Exercising at the gym is quite different from commuting. People can take the "rest day" quite litterally and not move for one day :)

To be healthy we should walk at least 8 km a day every day, so your daily commute in the fresh air is very healthy. You could also try to walk (fast) part of your commute on the days you don't want to cycle. Just reassess yourself every few weeks. Make sure you walk a few minutes after each meal, go for a walk at lunchtime for 30mn if you can, take the stairs. All of that will make a big difference. Daily is the key!

Ouch! I am quite slow when I filter along stationary traffic, as much as cars decide to turn to leave the traffic, passengers also decide that they have had enough. Obviously people should look when they open a car door but they don't think so really really bad luck.

Today a guy got out of his car to finish off a cyclist that he didn't manage to kill earlier. The cyclist rode away and me stuck between the 2 cars and the mad driver shouting "GET A CAR YOU WANKER!!!". That one was definitely an attacker. As well as the guys who threw fireworks at my friend on Queenstown road.

It is not the whole forum of course and people get carried away posting stuff.

Women seem to disappear from the forum as well which is a shame.

The forum has not been kind to women this week...

First day commuting to work on the bike, and only just home. Will try and make it over later, if/when I start being able to feel my toes again.

Poor you, you chose the worse day possible. I tubed it today and it was quite good fun, good chats to be had (and dry), but it was a one off.
