^ Mainly plotting manually on Garmin Connect (where I can't find any options either) but it's done the same thing with other people's Bikeroutetoaster or RIDEWITHGPS routes.
It is a well known problem on garmin connect, presumably brt and ridewithgps use the same/similar mapping algorithm.
Routes work ok when created with garmin basecamp and mapsource.

Just taken the Garmin 705 I got for my birthday out of its box for the first time. Anyone got a GPX file for DD - and some idea of how to load it in...?
Here is a gpx file http://sdrv.ms/LhTYQX
Not sure on the 705, place it in the newfiles? folder
You may need to convert the gpx to tcx here http://www.bikeroutetoaster.com/Course.aspx -

The shifters are the ones on the down tube I -think- its a ten speed 11 - 25 shimano rear hub. I'm guessing it will probably not work very well thinking again!
If the shifters are on the downtube they are most likely friction type therefore you can probably use all the gears on the hub and not just 5. The deraileur doesn't care how many sprockets there are, it does what the shifter tells it within the limits of its overall travel.

Is there any reason you can't run a five speed de-ralier on a different amount of gear rear wheel and just use the 5 of the gears?
The cassette spacing will suit the shifter unless you are using friction shifters.
What is the number of sprockets on the cassette and what are the shifters, the deraileur is fairly irrelevant.Additionally if the derailleur is from a five speed bike it is probably old and it may not be a slant parallelogram type and therefore may not index well.

Does anyone know if a left NR - copy crank that has no extractor threads is a completely dead duck? Seems like it's been stripped and then machined cleaner to look like a rideable crank. If it ended up locked to a spindle, how would I get the left cup undone with a crank stuck on? Could I rethread it with something wider?
This has been covered elsewhere but essentially wedge it off.

I think I'm going to buy a Garmin next week - sick of faffing around with gps tracking on my blackberry and my Polar computer is fiddly and irritating. I've pretty much ruled out the 500 as I don't really see the point forking out if it doesn't have maps... so questions are:
a) 705 or 800? Is the 800 significantly better?
b) maps etc? Should I bother paying for these or are there backdoor alternatives? I'm a Mac user if that makes any difference..
Thanks in advance.

i have a second hand steel dolan track frame, the previous owner had to wel the underside of the bottom bracket seat. my query is whether i can smooth it down to get a smoother finish without weakening the weld? if so what would you recommend in using to smooth it down? i spoke to a few people and they reckon i should use a flap wheel and some people reckon i could get away with using wet and dry paper. any advice is appreciated.
Thanks
Flapper wheel grade 50 ish or find someone with a powerfile
