wow. some serious coffee geekdom going on here.
i recently quit instant for good for the sake of my guts and am using a little 4 cup cafetiere at work (been using stovetop espesso machine or cafetiere at home for years). i buy small bags of different ground coffees from monmouth and keep it in the fridge at work. 3 mugs a day of that and i get though a little bag a week. works for me.
used to have this crazy thing my mum gave me when i was at uni, like a giant espesso pot consisting of two big glass bowls set up like an hour glass... it had a little chain thing in it too... i forget exactly how it worked. anyone know what i'm talking about?
sorry if it's already been mentioned. late to thread. bad dooks.

i was going to post something along these lines the other day after a hectic end of rush hour hack home in the rain. i noticed on my ride home that of all the sweeping generalisations we tend to make about other road users, one stood out for me in a very positive way. busses. i've started to notice as a group how aware and considerate of cyclists most buss drivers are. that london paper article just prompted me to post this as it mentioned that the stats for bike/bus accidents were surprisingly low given the comparatively high numbers of each on the roads.
i just started to notice how they're often very considerate in sharing the bus lane with bikes, how as a rule they'll allow you to pass before pulling out then give you plenty of space when passing later. they seem to be much more aware of cyclists than any other group of road users i can think of. i don't think i've ever got into an argument with a bus driver and can think of a few occasions where i've ended up exchanging pleasantries with drivers at lights etc.
so yeah. hooray for busses.

cheers for that. i only searched thread titles as i'm at work and didn't have much time to spare. think i'm going to go for some SKS blades from condor + gaffa tape and zip ties.
oh and i dig the schoolteacher/vicar look. i'm still on the look out for an old carlton frame to fit moustache bars and chrome mudguards on.

For £25 I shall probably be able to send you a brand new set of SKS raceblades in sealed packet.
I have a friend clearing some stock from a bike shop, I shall go see if he has any left if people are interested.
that's a fairly tempting offer. let me know how you get on? they seem to start at around £25 on the net but are much more in the shops. i have a feeling i saw them at £39 in an evans recently.

hope this hasn't been done to death recently (search didn't come up with much).
i was just wondering if anyone has come across a viable alternative to sks race blades? i saw some cheapo alternative versions in a bike shop in clah’m the other day that looked pretty good. the attachments looked more permanent and stable and they were in the region of £25. i just can’t seem to find anything that isn’t sks’ on the interwebs. any experiences or tips?
got nothing against sks btw. i just wondered if there were any better/cheaper alternatives out there.
cheers,
dooks.

one of the most intriguing displays of incompetency I've seen for ages. I bet noone' s played the guitar that badly in front of that many people apart from Jason Orange doing "Smells Like Teen Spirit" - Slowhand backs down from the rumpus pretty quick; Santana just keeps on deluding himself he's Nigel Tufnell... pure magic.
.
dude, these are all spoof vids. they're all overdubed with awesomely awful playing.
for the record i don't like santana or any of these guitar hero clowns anyway. i just found these very cleverly doctored and meticulously dubbed clips hillarious.
bit muso for some i guess.

there's some qualitarrrr stuff on this thread. i went though them all the other day and noted down particular favourites but then my GF started shouting at me that i wasn't listening to her telling me about her day at work and as she was about to provide me with beans on toast i had to abandon thread.

edinburgh till 1
dunfirmline till 6
welwyn garden city till 18
then various bits of london (in order: holloway rd, hackney, brick lane, greenwich, surbiton, city road, islington green and now kilburn) till..now (31).
if pressed i'd be "from" WGC but it's not where i'm from or where i've spent most of of life.
it's about formative years i suppose.
so short answer is:welwyn garden city.

last generation ipod (30gig video jobby probs 2 years old) just stopped in the middle of a song tonight. no buttons seem to work at all. totally jammed up. brought it home and plugged it back into pc, still nothing. computer not recognising it, it's not even charging. just stuck showing "play" halfway thru the same song with the screen lit up.
it's not locked and i've tried all the buttons and different headphones. it's just stuck.
any ideas?
am i going to need a bigger hammer?

jeezy creezy what the fuck is that top one?! it's fucking terrifying!
