Yes, I went to camden palace, when it was CAMDEN PALACE, not fucking KOKO.
i went to the music machine when it was the music machine and not the fucking camden palace.
of course, people lucky enough to be even older than me went there when it was the camden picture theatre and not the fucking music machine but hey.

hi,
loathe to add the plague of want ads lately but am having a torrid time trying to find bits on line. most searches i run lead me back here so i thought i'd just go to the source. aaanyway:
i'm after a half decent pair of 27" wheels. clinchers, rear axle spacing 120mm, track hubs. would prefer box section rims and low flange hubs but am willing to consider anything suitably period-looking. can't quite justify full on campy oldie prices don't what cheap tat either. I guess around the £150 mark would be the limit for complete wheels at present. would also merrily consider hubs only.
also (along with a few other sit seems) after a set of suitably retro looking 165mm cranks and chainring. Would prefer 48T but again am reasonably flexible. budget flexible again but within the same contraints as given for the wheels. I guess £50-60 absolute tops?
thanks good people of the forum.

There's no problem queuing for beans.. I was served straight away by a nice lass.. it's all the fuckos queuing for drinks that have the problem.
i picked up some more colombian dark roast this morning, and while being served reaslised i didn't have any cash. so i popped up to the cash machine and back with a minor detour to talk to a friend i bumped into (meaning a total of three trips to the counter in the space of ten minutes).
each time i came back, the queue for drinks was out the door, maybe 10 or 12 people waiting and each time there was only one other person at the counter for beans/ground coffee. all the people who were at the (ahem) bean counter had a bike with them. no-one in the drinks queue did.
huh? huh?

i had a bacon roll this morning and was disgusted to find that it contained only one rasher. minimum two per crusty roll is standard no?
maria's market cafe (borough market) is another great breakfast/bacon roll source. her bacon rolls are beyond reproach as far as i'm concerned.
she's proper funny/nuts/sweet too.

see i hate that puritan "it's always been processed greasy low quality meat so anything else is just plain wrong!" attitude.
breakfast experimentation, improvements and diversity ftw!
i'll admit to be being shocked by bananas though.
americans do great breakfasts. biscuits and gravy is awesome. and any country that offers "chicken fried" (as in crispy coated and deep fried) steak on most breakfast menus is alright by me.

Finished this on sunday. JRJ Path frame with Chater Lea, Airlite, Bayliss Wiley, Renolds & GB Ye Olde English bits. Wolber & jalco (stripped) rims, Belleri bars, Salmon muddies.
Wish Dave Crowe hadn't bothered putting the headtube crest on like I asked him not to, as it doesn't fit between the massive lugs.
Still, I love it.
All courtesy of Furious Tiles for the frame, Dave Crowe (colourtech) for great work (transfer notwithstanding), and to Dale, The Bonk, Keith Wileman in Emsworth (a CTC forum guy) & Madgett's in Diss for essential bits, and Keith at TdV for some help.
No Dale, it's not a fucking dawes.
doo-oo-oode. this is pure dead brill. and almost exactly what i had in mind for the witcomb frame i bought off scrapper last week. going to try and source all sorts of ye olde englishe bitse over the next few weeks. anyone with a set of 27" wheels, or just rims/hubs and some nice old cranks cluttering up the shed please feel free to give me a yell.
big props again. that is just stunning.

i generally agree with DIY breakfast philosophy (i do a mean selection of omlettes and am revered amongstt those in the know for my scrambled eggs) but sometimes going out is the way:
i live right by the worker's cafe on upper street championed by gabes. it's okay but i have to say there are far better brekkers to be had round there. i like a classic greasy spoon within reason, but when you can get good quality fresh coffee, decent sausage and bacon for only a little more than the standard processed goo and piss weak instant, then i reckon it's worth doing.
to that end i'm a huge fan of the s&m http://www.sandmcafe.co.uk/ breakfast which revolves around a central concept of bubble, any egg (poached ftw), tea or coffee and toast to which you can add any four items (black pud, sausage, bacon and mushrooms usually). the only downside with that place is that you need to get in early as it gets packed. i really love this breakfast though.
a lot of the little turkish places on upper street do killer breakfasts with a mediteranean twist, like spicy turkish sausages, salad and pickles with your scrambled. galipolli of course and tod's grill (right by the workers) are particularly good. as is mem and laz on almeida street.
back on more traditional grounds la palma in southwark is great (classic italian run greasy spoon) with magic gammon egg and chips and a daily selection of cheap bowls of pasta. tea comes in pink mugs. been going here at leats once a week for seven years. always good.
frank's cafe just round the corner on southwark street is also fun but in more artery hardening sort of way. classic old cab driver's retreat untouched since the 50s by the look of things. i'm pretty sure the tea's been brewing since a similar time. it's cheap and cheerful but pretty much everything's swimming in grease so i tend not to go there very often these days.

interesting. been toying with the idea of buying this:
http://www.gumtree.com/london/25/37956125.html
for the wheels and few other bits to put on a british frame then selling the frame b/b on.
good idea?
EDIT - sorry, i should say that it has maillard hubs. and that i'd have at least temporary use for everything on it bar the frame and b/b.
