holy shit eyebrows. makes me wonder how i got through four years of th euniversity of north london (now metropolitan). officially and annecdotally one the shittiest universities in the country.
chin up feller. the next bit's the good bit!
oh, apart from the "not being able to get a job anywhere despite just having tortured myself for three years to get the fucking degree in the first place RAGE" you are about to encounter.
good luck with that.
it goes away too
eventually

people who find it necessary to correct things on internet forums i.e
"Dooks, rickets is actually caused by a vitamin D deficiency."
esp. if they are wrong.
not wrong apparently:

honours even.

It is possible - would be a new zone for a sighting. Dooks, if you can be arsed to document your sighting, please do so on the Banshee thread. What did she look like/was she riding etc?
She has always been described as a confident, even aggressive rider. No reports of swearing to date either, just loud outbursts. Could this, like the black squirrel and the super rat, a kind of evolution? A super banshee? Worrying times indeed.
just caught up with the entire banshee thread. very entertaining.
i don't think this was her though. orange fluoro vest, brompton, very wobbly and submissive bike handling = not your girl. i think the swearing and screaming this morning was a defensive reaction to getting a bit of a fright from me.
i'll keep and eye and ear out for the banshee in the southwark area too. in fact i'm considering mounting one of these on my handlebars:

'average looking woman' - that's what my old man used to say to me 'get yourself an average looking woman, she'll be grateful and other blokes won't try and nick her'
an old girlfriend of mine's dad proposed to his wife (and included this information in the proposal) "because she's a good all-rounder".
sweet.

Ooh! I really liked that. Are they still around?
sort of. the bridge gand split up after (or before actually releasing a single on a mate's little label (soundsxp). the singer and drummer carried on as "the olympians". now i think they've got lucy back on bass and another girl on guitar and are trading as either "clockwork boy and the ticks" or possibly just "the ticks" or something.
i really like them in small doses. they have this sort of arrogance about them that a lot of folks find very appealing but i find tests my patience sometimes...

fluro vested lady screaming at me on farringdon road this morning.
she was barely doing walking pace and wobbling all over the place trying to look over her shoulder to pull out into fast moving traffic to pass a parked van.
i was moving with the traffic more or less (down hill with a strong tail wind) and closed on her pretty quickly. had to decide in a split second whether to emergency stop to let her wobble out into traffic or try and find the happy medium between pulling in front of traffic myself and coming too close to her as i passed. i think i did a pretty decent job of the safest line and distance... i did end up pretty close to her though.
as i passed a few feet to her right she wobbled madly and exclaimed "fucking hell!" as i rode off i raised a hand in a sort of "what? what's the problem?" manner and she went bananas! screaming a cursing , spitting and yelling. i could still hear her bawling and yelling as i crossed clerkenwll and carried on.
sorry screaming lady but you really didn't leave me with much choice there. you might have thought i cut you up or blocked you in, but i beg to differ. i've been thinking about it and had it been me that had got myself in that situation, i.e. hadn't pulled out in time and found myself stuck on the inside behind a parked lorry while traffic streams past on the outside: i'm pretty sure i'd assume the onus was on me to pull out into traffic only when it was safe to do so. i'm pretty sure i wouldn't just go wobbling out into traffic then screaming indignantly at the people who i'd just forced to dive out my way in self defence.
but i didn't feel like stopping for a slanging match this morning (did i mention downhill + tailwind?) so i just had to work it out here. hope you made it to work without screaming at anyone else or getting run over.

joanna newsom. no-one makes me weep except her. almost a bit nervous about sharing this as it means so much to me.

i know some peeps frown on the later stuff and yeah, i would agree that orange was pretty much the highpoint but i've always had a real affection for this tune. it pretty much single handedly set the agenda for my last band.

I Love The Wedding Present! I don't own any though :( See you at polo tonight!
this thread is awesome. i saw the weddoes do the whole of george best live last year. they were amazing. weirdly i only got into them a few years back and like the recent stuff as much as the old.
and yes, fucking wow - i want to know about playing with damo suzuki. i'm reading julian cope's japrocksampler right now as it happens. haven't read krautrocksampler yet but it's in the pile.
my tenuous connection to collaborating with bands posted in this thread is that i once played with gary lucas of late era beefheart (and obvs more famously jeff buckley - he being the co-author of buckers' best stuff). he was a total cock.
sorry if i'm out of synch with this thread, i keep getting excited and skipping to the end then going back to listen to everything in it.
i'm out of fags.
arse.

right now, hyperballad by bjork on the adam and joe show on the iplayer. i started listening to the 3 hour long show just before 9 this morning. the idea was that the headphones might be a subtle hint to other people that i was busily working and didn't want to be interrupted. i'm just now, 7 hours later getting to the end of it. stupid interrupting bastards.
just noticed that faith no more are playing brixton academy in june. will be poised to snaffle some extortionately priced (£32) tickets the moment they go on sale.

quite an event. less of a match, but it was certainly entertaining for the neutrals.
it baffles me why they can't consult the "third umpire" on these things. it seems ridiculous. if cricket, probably the most backwards, archaic and closed minded sport in existance is happy to embrace technology to settle important decisions like that, why can't football?
aaaanyway.
