There is no provision in British law that you must make your bike safe for people who wish to steal it.
If I remove my brake pads - and then that bike is stolen - do you expect a successful prosecution could be brought - on what grounds ?
I'm not a lawyer nor do I play one on TV but people litigate and win in al sorts of scenarios. How about the bloke who sued another bloke for sprinting on the hoods and not the drops?

Its been raining, you're going round a bend and need to slow down. Do you:
a) Apply your rear brake and gently scrub off speed, or
b) Apply your front brake, causing the wheel to lock up and instantly slip wide landing your face on the tarmac. Not running a back brake on a freewheel bike is retarded.
c) HTFU and ride the turn out properly.

yeah, i think it may have been a lemond. Then I carried on past him chatting to the builder as I was on the way to BLB. I didn't really wanna get hit with a set of bolt cutters.
I thought about calling the police, but then, really, they wouldn't have got there in time, and from reading about stolen bikes and the police on here, they don't really give a fuck about them...
I was thinking about this on my way home. How many people do know the number for the local OB anyway?
The way to get them to come quick for anything is to say "if you don't get here quick I'm gonna kill the cunt". It worked for me anyway :)
