Where I live you have to pay £65,000 to register a cheap/small car for 10 years. There are approximately five residents per motor vehicle, and (compared to other large cities) congestion is vanishingly tiny.
It’s an authoritarian, quasi-democracy with de facto single party rule baked into the constitution (which also has roles defined by race, for all racism fans).

Public school kids are significantly over represented in (some types of) sport and the Olympics- I’d suggest that in part that is due to many public schools doing some kind of sports each day/offering them to pupils.
I think that that aspect is a good worth bringing to the state sector- for the health benefit of nothing else.

Ok, I think I know what the issue is/was- me being stupid, mainly.
I thought that Atlas Ski Co and Bike Morzine were the same company- changed names for different season/sport.
Looks like that’s not correct and it’s Atlas Ride Co in the summer. No idea how I managed this mix up.
Anyway, should have booked with Atlas as they’re way better value. Might move there next week.

It’s odd, the lady I booked with says that they don’t do the shared chalet model since Covid- but I stayed with them in ‘22, and I just walked past two of their shared chalets and they’re branded up and busy. Maybe they hire them out complete, but I can’t see how that’s easier than renting out rooms which was their old model.
I can move- but I lose the money I paid as it’s my mistake, which I admit it is.
Without an income that’s a bit of a step to take.

Seems I have made a silly mistake- assumed staying with Bike Morzine would be the same irrespective of the location, but the place I’m in has almost none of the amenities of previous years. No bike wash, no washing machine, no dinner, no fridge, no lounge, no kitchen, and just a single bed with the bike stored in an old nightclub.
Seven hours of driving and this is presenting a challenge to my moral fibre, which I hope will be addressed by having some dinner.

But random, but putting it in here: Twitter was up until very recently heavily advertising “close protection specialists for (my) trip to London”, I don’t know if this was because I was accessing the site from Singapore or some other part of the algorithm that thought I would be delighted to have a doorman accompany me as I wandered around town.
