Quick N00B question for you all- binned the front tyre as it is knacked, replaced it with a spare that I had in the cupboard.
Inflated it and thought "hmm, this looks rather large", had a look and it is indeed a 28.Now this should be fine, but my inner tubes are rated for 18-25 tyres...
Reckon it will cope with being slightly over inflated?

When I was at school the general attitude was that those pupils who showed an aptitude for sport were making up for being “hard of thinking”, and that the ability to run/swim/throw something a long way was in some way recompense for an inability to breath with their mouths shut, or operate a pen or pencil with any degree of utility.
This was a state run school with large playing fields (which may now have been sold for “executive housing”).
So I think part of the problem may have been one of peer opinion- I was certainly considered to be insane for cycling everywhere, and going out on the weekends for 6-8 hours on my bike, often returning covered in 70% mud and 30% blood.
Having no direct knowledge of how the ‘strines view sport I cannot draw a direct conclusion, but I suspect the attitude toward athletic ability was less pejorative? -

they are heavy, expensive and pointless, when u can get a MK3 golf for the same money if not less, and its as fast, more reliable, and better on petrol, why do u want a volvo?
Not sure I agree with your points, apart from the petrol one.
But, as I said above, I saw the Volvo's in the BTCC and told myself then that I would have one someday.
Plus I can get quite a few bikes in the back without taking them to bits, or a wardrobe, should I want to move one at high speed.
Plus, as Platini has pointed out, my golf club duties have made this inevitable.

I may well be wrong on this- but these are all (well) pre-2003, when the emissions based tax came in, so I think that it should be the standard road tax/VED.
Insurance wise because I have no no-claims bonus the 250 BHP 2.3 Litre turbocharged Volvo is around £50 a year more than a 64 BHP 1.2 litre Clio, which I admit makes no sense, but there you are.
Petrol- yep, it's going to drink a lot, but the car itself is (hopefully) going to be so cheap that it will offset that.

In terms of "stuff", very little- the laptop that I am writing this on is the most valuable thing that I own.
In terms of bikes, not worth as much as yours I would think!
Two worth around 3 grand, one at £1,600, one at £500 and a couple that are worth maybe £50 to purchase and say £300 to replace.Maybe "West Greenwich" (Deptford) is a high theft area?

Scorchio! Thanks for the reassurance El Squire.
It just needs to hang on until Scott gets those Maxis' in (possible apostrophe fail warning).
My bike does now look faintly silly with a 28 up front and a 23 at the rear.
