Fucking hell Herbgerb, I appreciate you might be trying to highlight a problem, but your riding scares me. I admit that I lose focus some time and do things that I shouldn't, but you've got a death wish. Just because there are cycle lanes, doesn't mean you have to use them!
Stay safe people - and make sure you ride to be seen!

Fuckin hell, 2 post and I still haven't said what a legend murtle was up front pulling us along! What is it with this train bitch? Tell us more...What am I doing and me had a woman tell us there was no room on the train for my bike and then when I ignored her told me that I'd hit her leg - the boyfriend whispered 'I'm sorry' as she was clearly pissed. Mini..Cooper what a couple of days! Nice to meet you all.

I'm so pissed off today. Cycled to and from work and was surrounded by the biggest bunch of wankers in the world. Forced into the kerb by an HGV twice and sworn at by van driver, car drivers giving you no space on the road. Used to this behaviour, but today was so much worse than ever. When I got home I felt that I was lucky to get back in one piece. Aaarggghhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ride Safe!

Get better fella whoever you are!
Newspaper reports are f*cking weird. 10 years ago I was hit by a car from behind at 70mph, leaving me with smashed teeth, a broken back and a severed tendon in my leg. Apparently I collided with a car and suffered cuts and bruises. My mum went mental and phoned the paper whilst I was recovering. New report printed with a much fairer assessment of what happened.

Not the most catchy of titles. Anyway, just looking at all the "rider down" threads made me think of how we could improve the safety of cyclists in the UK. As I understand, in French law a motorist is liable for any accident involving a ped or a cyclist. Their insurer has to pay compensation regardless of the circumstances, simply on the basis that the motorist should exercise special care when driving a potentially lethal machine.

Must say that I didn't find them unfriendly (which might sound strange), but have belonged to clubs before and it seems the approach is generally and rather sadly the same. I accept that cycling is one of those sports where you have to HTFU - but got me thinking that if I was complete novice would I return for another club run? You can imagine the scenario, you keep up for 50 miles and then someone puts the hammer down and you're left spat out the back and on your own with 10 or 15 miles to get back home and feeling knackered.

Low speed crash into bollard last time I attended West End drinks (long time ago), but seemingly felt like I was Eddy Merckx on the way home - the adult equivalent of getting Dunlop Green Flash at the age of 10 or coming out of a Superman film... (either that or I'm a sad fuck).
