Just seen that Neil Armstrong has died. Was born in 1970 and by the time that I was old enough to remember, the Apollo missions had been and gone. One of those things that I regret, alongside not seeing Merckx cycle in anger. I think if you've ever seen In the Shadow of the Moon you can't help but admire this achievement.

Although she's become a diversion - I did notice that our Michelle retweeted (is this right) something about Wiggins being a naughty South African word. Perhaps she meant it in a John Terry ironic sense or a Rio Ferdinand twitter sense - social media is so confusing. Anyway it was removed sharpish. Back to smashing it up and down the river or something like that...

Raphael Geminiani had a great nickname 'le grand fusil'.
On another theme, was Shlecks positive a result of pre-tour testing or not? Seems that positives are more frequent during the tour, but without evidence this is simply an observation. Would be interested to see stats on this. If they are statistically more frequent then why? Testing shouldn't be any more frequent or rigorous.

Hounslow - Hyde Park route not very interesting and reasonably busy. Tried various routes to Chiswick and when I venture beyond. Must admit that the Hampton Court, Bushy Park, Twickenham, Richmond route is attractive and offers plenty of bike shops en-route just in case... As per my previous comment, there is a split between those going local like me, and those going further afield who take the Putney route. If you carry on down the A316 you end up 'enjoying' the A4 and a trip round Hammersmith unless the flyover appeals.

Bollocks to retrobike, this should be bought by some on here! It's beautiful and if it weren't' for an unfinished Pinarello in my shed might have been tempted myself. Lovely...
