Is it a steel frame and ally seatpost? I think you can dissolve ally with bicarb or somesuch if you don't mind sacraficing the post.

Yep - it's a steel frame and alloy seatpost.

From what I can gather, heat isn't going to help anyway as alloy expands faster than steel. I have also heard that you can dissolve it with NaOH (aka caustic soda), which I'm not sure I believe entirely. Any chemists in Norfz?

I already pulled the clamp off the top of the seatpost in a vice because it's a two part seatpost. My latest plan is to drill a hole through the seatpost and stick a big bolt through it so it doesn't turn in a vice. Then I intend to use some beer and violence to rip it out. Anyone tried this before?

Anyone got a vice? And a blow torch? I have a stuck seatpost in a frame I recently inherited and want to get it on the road for Sally.

I got the whole bike for free off a mate and used most of the parts for a mutant MTB build. Now that I am moving flat (again), I can't be arsed to take this with me. Unfortunately, I also can't be arsed to carry it into town for you unless there is a tenner in it for me, so it'll probably need to be a collection from N19:

It's a Decathlon Vitamin R, which means it's basic as it gets. Build it up as a single speed pub bike or use the MTB brake mounts for a spot of polo, but don't build it up fixed as it has vertical drops.

Might have some of the parts from it still if that's of interest to you.
