Hope that the rest of the ride was awesome. Sounds like it was. Thanks Dogsballs for the tube - I owe you one. Thanks to everyone who stopped and encouraged and offered tubes, etc. That is what is so great about these rides.
Thank goodnees I headed back to Waterloo - halfway across Waterloo bridge i suffered a DOUBLE tyre punc****!!!!! Both just gave up the ghost. 4 in 1 hour!!! The insides of my tyres look like a hedgehog - like I hoovered up every single flint on the road.
Feck feckity feck feck
I'm obviously cursed so best not to sit too close to me at the next Westie drinks. Just say NO to Veloflex Pave Tyres.

I'm constantly amazed by the complete randomness of law enforcement in the UK.
I think it's a cops on cycles thing - this morning I was going by the National Portrait Gallery (Trafalgar Square) and on my green light 2 cops on cycles f****ing cut me up performing an illegal right turn into the pedestrian crossing right in front of me - they looked like they were trying really hard not to fall off.
I yelled a pleasant "That set a good example!" before departing.
Heh heh heh.

After my recent build projects I have perfectly good cardboard box used for shipping one of my frames. I also have the front fork spacers and lots of bubble wrap.
If anyone is about to ship a frame off to get it pimpified and need a large sturdy box then you're welcome to swing by West London to get it.
PM if wanted. Limited time offer.
Otherwise it gets recycled. Ta!

Excellent day gentlemen.
After I got home and took a shower did I realise that the only thing that prevented me form getting sunburned was the fine layer of dirt, aka nature's sunblock.
Total distances were -
Hyde Park Corner to Cambridge - 74.89 miles
Polo Court to Cambridge - 70.29 milesCorny's right, the best part of the day is the beer swilling train ride back. Hillbilly's "Corny, you could have exploded!" is still making me laugh.
Shall we start organising the next one to Oxford?

First build finally complete after a few weeks of wayward package related false dawns.

The planets aligned today by having the massivley backordered saddle surprisingly show up on the same day as the pedals and chain. Noice.I'm going to keep it on a super spinny 44/18 until I get used to a fixed. I suspect that it will be some time before I start using it for commutes (hey, we all have to start somewhere).
Flame away. I'm off to ride it round my ever so genteel hood.

It's a bike - not brian surgery! 'Tis a lovely bike though. Well done.
Some advice from a recent mover to fixed gear - take it out and around your local residental streets until you are comfortable enough to take it on busier roads.
