One Abus Buffo 34 Lock, and one Kryptonite Kryptolok 2 Standard U-Lock. So not an argos special offer.
I can see that you're relatively new on this forum, however, a comment like Still wouldn't trust a U-lock, can only be seen as contrary on a thread that advocates them. I can only suggest you to look at the very first post of this thread, and you would probably learn that there IS a criteria for recommended U-locks. The locks you owned may have been suggested by salespersons, or maybe you were looking for value, but here we advise other choices, and indeed some at much less in price than you may have paid. And reassuringly, the locks in the first post, are highly recommended.

....Like bodie, I don't care for Hamilton and his attitude in or out of the car.
Should all sportsmen be quiet and thoughtful, and not showy? It explains why Muhammad Ali was so despised by so many people. I think I'll write Lewis, and tell him that certain people want him to be quiet and that he should let his driving do the talking. Clearly he doesn't know his place.
Isn't it strange though, that petulant, badly behaved media-hound, James Hunt was always so well thought of, in life and after? Even though he famously threw his toys out of the pram many times? I can't work out why he was so similar to Hamilton in several respects, whereas the reaction to Hamilton is mostly negative. Maybe I'll never work it out, but it must be something.

There is no chance of that in the world. Nico Rosberg certainly raised his game with Schumey around, and I'm sure he'll raise his game even further with Lewis as a teammate, but there is a limit to one's innate talent, and compared to the really fast drivers, I believe Nico falls shy of that. No insult to him, but I don't think Nico is in Hamilton's, Alonso's or Vettel's league when it comes to speed. We shall see if I'm wrong.

...Hamilton (I don't rate him)...
You are bodieanddoyle, and I claim my five British pounds. :-)
As for Button retaining first place........of what? He's not the WC, Vettel is, and I'm even doubtful if he will rule the roost over Perez. In my opinion, there are several drivers better than Button, and a couple that are at least his equal.
Better than Button IMO:
Fernando Alonso (consistency)
Kimi Raikkonen (ability)
Lewis Hamilton (speed)
Sebastian Vettel (speed, aggression, focus)Close rival to Button:
Mark Webber
Felipe Massa -
It goes without saying that I'd like Hamilton to do really well, but I also hope that Alonso gets a fast car this year. For him to finish a close second in the Driver's Championship, with what was a dog of a car, shows that he is the best driver on the grid. Lewis is faster, but not better. Not by a long chalk. I also think Kimi has been coming nicely to the boil. If his car is good, he will be right up there.
I don't seem to care so much for Red Bull, other than I'd always want to see Webber do well, but am increasingly nonplussed by any and all of Vettel's efforts.

Hi,
This is Steve from Pragmasis, manufacturer of the Protector chains and Torc ground anchor etc.
Could I suggest it would be helpful to identify the gauge of our chains that are being described in your entries, please? I don't have any complaint about anything that has been said and continue to be pleased that you've taken the time to put this list together and to maintain it, but we produce a range of chains and describe them all honestly, so we would not suggest our 13mm or 11mm chains should be included in this topic as we can't guarantee either of them to be impossible to bolt-crop with 42" croppers. However, both our 16mm and 19mm chains are impossible to crop and are equivalent to the 16mm and 19mm Almax chains in our opinion. We do suggest that the 19mm is often too heavy to use with bicycles but we do have a small number of customers using it where they have extreme requirements and don't mind the awkwardness of manhandling a really heavy chain. The 16mm, however, is a more sensible solution for high end bikes and we have a lot of customers using it as such. Even that, though, at 4.5kg per metre length, is a heavy thing in long lengths and must be handled carefully to avoid damaging a precious bike.
We are always happy to answer questions plainly and honestly. I'm the one that checks the lab test results on every batch of our chain as well as the one that has designed all of our products to date and am happy to give 'engineer' advice rather than be a pushy salesman (which I'm not!).
I hope that helps,
Steve.
Welcome on board Steve, really good to have Pragmasis here. Kryptonite and OnGuard are represented here in this thread, and on this forum, and we've had input from Xena as well, so you're very welcome as another major industry insider.
And as I'm sure you've gathered from the first post/first page of this thread, the criteria and the basis of locks recommended here, are simply that they will be the best available for the job. One early decision was that 16mm thickness would be the base (with one extremely deserving exception). And in the lists on page one, thickness is noted with each item. That, weight, and price are the determinants that people use for their comparisons, so its been helpful in that respect.
And we've even invented new methods for safe locking; so hopefully we may both learn from each other.

Serious question.
Will Massa be a real challenge to Alonso this year, and the others at the top? He's looking really speedy - a real racer again, not a makeweight.
