Ferrari lock out the front row. Massa getting the better of Verstappen, and I'm loving that. Lewis looks strangely off the pace. I also think Bottas has proved that he is fast enough, that if team orders come into play, he may say, if Hamilton is fast enough he can pass. I think that would be fair. If Raikkonen gets to the first corner in the lead, it will be one helluva race.

Were Mercedes supposed to walk over anything? Ferrari have beaten them 2 times out of 3 and are leading the standings (constructors and drivers) on merit. Mercedes turning the wick up for Qualies has been of little benefit in the race. Who thought they had the advantage? Toto himself said the Mercedes era of domination was over. I don't think it was tongue in cheek.

Benson may have been right by coincidence, but maybe he knew something from an inside track.

By the way, I think lubing a lock, even one used indoors, is too infrequent at only 6 month intevals.

Lance Stroll isn't doing himself much good either. Alonso shows his worth yet again, but with a Mercedes drive out of reach, and a poor rapport at Ferrari making a return not so likely, his future isn't looking very positive. It's a shame. I think he might beat Hamilton in the same car over a season.

The conditions were perfectly driveable; there was only some drizzle at the track. Generally visibility and conditions were fine for racing. But at the hospital, 38km away, conditions for the medi-heli to land, were very poor. Racing could have happened on track, but there was no way for a medical evacuation to be effected, so thats why racing of any type was red flagged. However, some parade laps would have been absolutely safe to do, and it would have been something at least for the fans would made the journey (including one of our forumengers I believe).

Did you only read part of what I wrote?
I'm sure Bernie wouldn't have wanted the specatators to have nothing at all, and would have even wanted the cars out behind the safety car, or a repeated formation lap, but not at speed - just so the cameras and the spectators had something to see. Of course, for the sake of safety the cars cannot race, but it dosn't mean they cannot go around the track, and at least keep spectators a bit entertained. It is an entertainment sport is it not? Thats what Bernie would have done differently. And of course, he wouldn't have allowed racing when they was no safe medical evacuation. There still could have been some entertainment though, instead of what we just had.

Like or dislike Bernie, he would have made sure that there was some type of racing, even if it was behind the pace car, just for the benefit of the cameras, and more importantly, for the spectators that turned up. Having no FP1 and no FP2 is pretty poor. Charlie Whiting cares about the safety, and that is essential. But Bernie cared about the show and the audiences - TV and live spectators. Charlie has stated that if the fog/smog remains the same, there will be no racing. Will there be Qualies, or even a race? I'm sure Bernie would have thought of something. The little man wasn't very pleasant, but he was effective.

Guys I don't mean to be a wet blanket, but in the Secondary Locks thread, there is a lengthy discussion about these locks [Abus 401 and Krytonite Mini]. Honest.

Hi @Invent, I'm not sure how to list you, as everyone else here would be charging for their services, but I'm not sure if you can in this way?

Alonso continues to show his worth...... Reaching Q3 then ending up 7th. I hear they're still way down on power, so that is some special effort.
