You can rescue files via Knoppix http://www.knoppix.com/ (a Linux OS that runs direct from directly from CD/DVD), as suggested above. There are others, and even more specialised, such as SystemRescue http://www.sysresccd.org/Main_Page
Locate your files and save them to USB keys; as it may takes several USB keys to do the job. Once all files and folders have been saved, wipe your hard-drive and re-install your previous OS. Make sure you have a firewall that is strong and flexible/customisable, then install a potent Anti-Virus program. NOD32 as said before (VB knows), is excellent, and so is Kaspersky. The best of the free AV programs is probably AVG. But that is slightly resource-heavy, even if it is very effective.
Next, update the Anti-Virus software, so that BEFORE you re-install your old files and folders, your PC is absolutely up-to-date in its protection. Some other good security software I have installed (and I don't get more than one issue per day on my laptop) are - CCleaner (a good Registry cleaner, but always use the "back-up" option first), Spybot: Search and Destroy (a bit slow, but very effective), and Ad-Aware SE/2008 (a stand-alone, run-when-you-like AV program; always keep updated).
Sorry if you already knew all this. Then you can re-install the old files and folders, and immediatly run your Anti-Virus software. After that, you should be ok. Its hours of work. And still, it can all go Pete Tong. Hope it works out though.

CHEERS rik!
Actually, one of the bonuses of the lists I create, isn't just for we LFGSS's, but even more so for those who google search stuff, and end up right here. They look around, and even eventually join. Its all good.
If anybody also wants to give me a positive rep, its damn well decent of you! :)

It seems like hamster and JDB, were both correct. I went back to the same shop today, and took photos of the pedals I had asked about. Clearly, the "covers" can certainly be for demo purposes, so as not to scuff and scratch the clips; and also, if strong enough, it is then effectively a double-sided dual-purposed pedal. One side being, in this case Time Atac (I was wrong, it wasn't spuds at all), and the other side being a flat platform for regular shoes.

Thats 2 bikes in quick succession, that are slightly used, but being sold for nearly full price [a Charge Plug and this Fuji Pista]. I wonder what's going on. Mind you, selling a bike after only 5 miles on it does actually say a lot......about the owner.
Looks like there are some really persuasive sales people out there, who are able to sell people things that they don't actually want. Or of course, the following theories might be nearer to the mark..............

I've seen a few unipaks lately. One guy came into my workplace with one. Initially, without a proper visual once-over, I was impressed. Thats until I hefted the thing. It the heaviest bike of its type that I'd ever lifted. It feels like the tubes of the frame were at one time on shelves in a plumber's merchants. The wheels, which initially looked like Velocity's, were so heavy also as to be almost beyond belief. The owner had paid £125 for it, and thought he got a bargain. I was too dumbstruck to say anything. In fact I could have got a hernia from it!

I'll be honest, although I am hankering after one of these SunRace Sturmey Archer 3spd fixed hubs, it just seems a little bit against the spirit of the purity of fixed and singlespeed cycling.
True, it is fixed, but surely the purpose of single cog riding is that there is so much less to go wrong? How many people will feel qualified to take apart this 3spd hub and repair it themselves? At the moment, with singlespeed cycling, there is really only the chain, cog and chainring to worry about in the drivetrain.
I think its a great idea, but also, with more things to go wrong................................?
