right, i'm just getting in from the dulwich paragon saturday club run. i've been doing it fairly regularly and am loving it. recently graduated from the "medium-paced" to the "fast-paced" group and feeling pleased with myself. the only problem is they meet at crystal palace, at 9 am. i live in clerkenwell so i have to get up fucking early to be there (as a reference point, i don't normally get in to work until 9:45-ish and that's a 10 minute walk from my house).
so i'm thinking. would anyone be up for a regulary weekly saturday club run that meets up out east? similar to tnrc, it would be a training run, not a social ride, so yes: lycra, gears, bottle cages. no: baggy jeans, polo gearing, fishtail skids. nothing insane, say 25-30 miles at a reasonable pace, meeting at 9:45, getting on the road at 10:00 -- planning to get you home by 12 noon. same route every week. it would have a no-man-left-behind policy, but silly-slow riders would be encouraged to build their fitness up a bit before coming back.
i thought i'd post it in here first to see if there's interest from y'all first before going wider with it. i'm thinking we'd do this throughout the winter too, as it's getting harder and harder to motivate myself for the 10 mile ride up to crystal palace when the alarm goes off at 7:45.
anyone up for this?

From Ealing Cycling...
*Sorry for the short notice but the Vetran Cycling Club are holding the regular match-lit ride this Saturday.
It's so called because the only allowed means of lighting is non-electric, no LEDs, no batteries, no dynamos.
It starts at 8.00pm promptly from the Sheen Gate in Richmond Park.
I went last year and it was a real hoot - there's a mixture of bicycles from the last 100 years lit with carbide lights, parafin, candles, oil and in my case a selection of glow-sticks. Last year there was a mist which added to the atmosphere as well as several dozen male deer doing what male deer do best.
The VCC organised tea and cakes at the end of the lap of the park so please bring something for their collection tin in the case they do this again.
Arrive a bit earlier to awe at how cycling was before portable electricity and how a £2.99 light from Halfords really is life changing.*
Even if no one does this one, it's an interesting concept that might one day be applied to a "naturally lit" retro/tweed night ride?
oliver said he did this ride last year and it was one of his favourites of the season. i might go check it out...

As much as the Tweed Run is Teddy's baby [and he put a shit load of work into it] in my mind it's also LFGSS's baby - as I recall it all started with a few posts on here and was in the main populated and organised by forum peeps
please don't let this become the Rapha Tweed Run or some such nonsense, should always be the LFGSS Tweed Run…
yeah don't worry... i'm all about 'true to our roots'

The 7.18pm train arrives in WGC @ 7.46pm. The 7.36pm train arrives 11 minutes later.
Return trains @ 9.58pm, 10.27pm, 10.30pm, 10.50pm (the last realistic train for Sam's 11.50pm connection), 11pm, 11.32pm, 12.09am.

waterproof jeans would be disastrous... waterproofing = not breathable = smelly from the inside
