I had an old Pug (My First Fixie™) on which the stem was totally fused into the frame/forks. Occasionally when spinning down a really steep hill on my way home (Dog Kennell Hill) it would cross my mind that maybe it's not just the stem that is fused. Maybe the steerer is actually snapped in two, and it is only the rust holding it together. And maybe any second I'll hit a bump and the entire front end of my bike will fold up underneath me, and I'll nose dive into the tarmac at 30mph.
It never happened (thank fuck).

I bought a pair of Archie Wilkinson speedway handlebars for my gf's bike. They are awesome bars, and have corrected the long top tube issues completely.
However, they are weirdly thin, and according to AW have a clamp size of 22.2mm, which looks to be about right.
They are currently set up on a Shimano 600dx stem, with a couple of shims, but this is not
a longeven a medium term solution.Anyone know where I can get a quill stem to take bars of this clamp size?
Anything considered really, but needs to be quite short (max. 80mm), and obviously silver and shiny helps.

Been trying to do a DIY bikefit, and found this page quite useful - just general info really, and much of it common sense once you've been riding a while, but still useful.
**1. Symptom **
**2. ****Likely cause **
3. Solution- You’re always having to scoot backwards on the seat
- Stem is too long so you pull yourself forward when you’re riding without realizing it; saddle nose may be tipped down too much
Install a shorter stem; level saddle
You’re always having to scoot forward on the seat
Stem is too short so you feel cramped and push yourself back when you’re riding without realizing it; saddle nose may be tipped back or the seat may not be far enough back on the rails
Install a longer stem; level the seat and center it on the rails
Lower back hurts
Stem too low or too long; must strain back to reach bars; or seat may be too high causing rocking when pedaling
Try raising the stem/handlebars; still hurts?; try shorter stem; check and adjust seat height
Neck hurts
Stem too low; must crane neck to see
Raise the stem/bars
Hands hurt
Stem too low; too much weight on hands
Raise the stem/bars
Front of knee hurts
Seat too low, straining knees
Raise the seat
Back of knee hurts
Seat too high, overextending legs
Lower the seat
Numb bum all the time
Too much weight on the seat
Try a lower handlebar position; check seat height as it may be too high
Achilles tendon hurts
Pedaling too much on your toes; cleats too far forward on your shoes
Keep the balls of your feet over the pedals when you’re riding; move cleats back
- You’re always having to scoot backwards on the seat

A mate of mine is riding London-Sydney at the moment, and he's got loads of nights sleep via this site http://www.couchsurfing.org/.
Good luck, sounds epic - better than a job anyway!

IMHO the rest of the panel came out of that very well. I've got a lot of time for Jack Straw, I might not agreee with every policy he backs, but he seems much less of a twat than many in the house of commons. He was getting choked up last night at some points, almost losing it, because he was so furious with griffin.
I don't see the BBC at fault here, the bnp has been allowed to stand in elections, and has won seats. Instead of putting the spotlight on griffin, we should be looking at the people who think he's worth voting for. If he stops getting votes he will fade away from public view, and probably carry on underground, but will get much less support and be able to influence much fewer people.
To me at least, he came accross as a petty, slimy little man, bent with hatred and overcome with ignorance. The other four members fo the panel had intelligence and intellects that they could use to back up their points, and whether you agreed with them or not they could speak like rational adults. griffin sounded like a little kid accused of nicking biscuits and then adamantly denying it. He is a fucking joke, I couldn't summon up an ounce of respect for him. -

I recently moved out of a place in East Dulwich. The landlord is doing some work on it at the moment so it wouldn't be ready for a few weeks. Its a 3/4 bed first floor and loft conversion flat, and we were paying £1500 a month. If you really need it I could give you his number...? You would need to find the other housemates too...so maybe not the most helpful, sorry :)

Thanks, dads gone to police station to get assault form. I'm still shaken up so don't feel that great to be going there myself.
This took place on lansdowne drive between croston street and broadway market, next to london fields. He sped off towards mare street.
Reg is GL54 OPA. I think its a plumbing company van, both men were wearing company uniform of some sort. I couldnt make it out though.
Googling tells me that this is a Volkswagen T-sporter T30 130 Tdi Lwb (Panel Van).
Did it look like this one? - they're based in East London.

unashamedly speculative bump
