Many thanks MJ - kind offer, but I still have the fixed so not off the road thankfully, just not keen on coming face to face with Surrey Hills and the like. Yep, they took prints etc from a carving knife, but I suspect the chances of anything coming of it are slim and longer term.
I spoke to someone Friday on a Condor Moda - he was raving about it so very envious. Depending on how I fare insurance wise I'll be working hard to convince myself of the benefits of Ti..
Cheers Tika - are you in for this ride? if we can convince Marco we could form the customary TNRC autobus.

Brilliant night yet again - if all cycling clubs were like TNRC.... I first came across TNRC back in March, reading the exploits of 4 madmen who took a night time jaunt through Surrey Hills in the midst of storms and gales, almost seems fitting that the season ends with three of them reaffirming their Sean Kelly hardman status. I suspect clintsmoker is gutted to have missed this one. Terrible run of luck with punctures, mechanicals and trains, but Jonny's chainless descent of Coldharbour is the stuff on legend.
Scarlett, thanks for hanging on till the end with my ticket after my senile Victoria moment - so glad I didn't miss it. Jonny, champagne was a great touch cheers, you did get the first toast.

Oliver - looked like a brilliant ride, great stuff for organising. Unfortunately had something on today which required me to be more or less awake, hence I never ended up on the list. Two recces and I still haven't made an actual ride... next year definitely. Did Garwick work ok? At least there's a fnrttc to Whitstable this Friday though so I'll get one night ride in this week.

Excellent night's riding - definitely the best TNRC route and even more fun than 3 laps of Richmond Park. Good that we kind of regrouped ok and maybe that sixth hill training will come in handy one day.
But..... after hearing about all the goings on in E13 this evening I have to admit I'm having some pangs of regret at missing the '70s retro party at Upton Park tonight.

Ride Out:
1.GROUNDRULES:
1. Riders' bikes must be in good honest working order and made from Titanium.
2. Riders must have *adequate *lighting (normal LEDs don't really cut the mustard) to illuminate road *irregularities *with plenty of *time *for safe evasive manoeuvres, and to get *home *on their own if necessary. If you need glasses/contact lenses, WEAR THEM.
**3. Riders should have spare batteries / lighting in case of emergency. It is also *wise *to carry the usual puncture repair/ tubes / spare bottom bracket etc. **
4. Riders should familiarise themselves with the advertised root.
5. Riders should be aware of aggravating train commuters, and be ready to ease the situation with diplomacy / compromise / violence / honest pterodactyls.
6. Riders should be aware of cars behind and in front. Sponge into single file as soon as safely possible. Common advice is NOT to wave traffic through for legal reasons. Better to single up and allow the motor carriage captain decide when to pass.
7. Riders should have a charged mobile phone and a few other honest riders' numbers.
8. Riders will produce pterodactylesque favours on demand of TNRC management.

Cars collide colours clash, disaster movie stuff - that's how I remember it. Essex has clearly had a make-over since then. A fine afternoon's riding and good company - will make for a cool TNRC ride.
Just a thought Tim - given the long gap between trains back from Ingatestone, maybe hook back towards Mountnessing/Shenfield on the last section to increase the return transport options.

I'm in, but being only about 3 hours back from an intended easy 55m night ride which somehow mutated into 160+ miles on fixed I suspect I'll regret this come Tuesday.

Excellent evening all round and a fine route by BMMF. WGC looked a fun place...
The hedgehog definitely survived the TNRC, whether it got its arse into gear and made it across before the next 4x4 is another matter.
Tim, here's the bikely link to that Essex ride I was talking about - kicks off from Shenfield and does a long loop round Chelmsford.

[/ame]
Loads of trains to Shenfield but Its almost 90k, so probably too long for an evening ride. I normally add some bits on to take it out to Maldon, but may have a recce and see if some corners can be cut off to bring it down to TNRC size.

TNRC 28/07/2009 - "The Way To People's Beds Is Via Their Herts (or "You're Welwyn There") Ride"
FYI, the route is here, give or take, going anticlockwise. It was 40 miles on 69" fixed in 2h02 for the reccy, but should be far more pleasant and sociable around the 2h30 mark :)
Train departs Kings X @ 7.18pm (via Finsbury Park) // £10 Return // 40 Miles Fast & Rolling
- BMMF
- jonny
- tika
- andyp
- marcom
- mikec (Torn between these and the track nights on Monday and or Wednesday - something always has to give )
- Aleksi
- diapo
- shoots
- Skulls
- clinsmoker
- purple_mj
- balmain
ADDITIONAL TRAIN INFO:
The train will most likely leave from platform 9b. This is one of a few 'extra' platforms, tucked away through an entrance half-way up the left side of platform 8.
Facing the direction of travel, the doors open at Finsbury Park on the left, but all stations thereafter open on the right (so shift bikes at that point). On the return journey, all doors open on the left.
The 7.18pm train arrives in WGC @ 7.46pm. The 7.36pm train arrives 11 minutes later.
Return trains @ 9.58pm, 10.27pm, 10.30pm, 10.50pm (the last realistic train for Sam's 11.50pm connection), 11pm, 11.32pm, 12.09am.

Will bring it along shoots, and make sure that its well behaved as well.
