Missed the entry this year - 22,000 places gone in 12 minutes. Might try for an entry when the transfers are open in April. I've done it a few times - lovely ride/occasion. Went round fixed last time no probs at all - its a nice flat ish route that suits a steady fixed spin. You do get spat out of the groups on the long shallow descents when everyone else cranks into a high gear though, but there's always another group coming along to sit in with.
Getting there I flew to either Gothenburg or Nykoping and then rode to Motala. Alternatively there is a train package from Gottenburg that looks fun.

I'm not 100% for this at the mo - a bumpy session on the squash court last night leaves me a tad fragile today. Hopefully good for Saturday. As a westie will probably do the train to West Drayton
Think 4 of us got the train back last year, can't remember any problems getting on - may have just been lucky. I've got a network railcard which is good for a third off for 1-3 people if a GS 4 doesn't come together. As for riding back... dark lanes on the scenic route probably not so much fun this time of the year and there are post ride beers to think about in Oxford so I'm definitely training it.
hey, I'm very much a maybe, as I'm hoping to go to a music festival in Brighton, but for whatever reason that's now looking unlikely, so i have a few quick questions.
Is it really impossible to get your bike on a train at oxford?
Are there enough people training back for a group save, or is it a cheap ride anyway?
Is anyone (balmain - I'm looking at you) thinking of going there and back in a day?

Sure some of the tnrc routes featured in 'Dogging Tales' on Ch 4 last night... not mind-blowing or awesome, but entertaining nonetheless.
Had a nice spin in Richmond Park, so the early call may have been over cautious - but it's an unfamiliar and longish route, so sketchy lanes/punctures etc could well have ended with a long train wait or a ride home. Can't make a Thurs recce, will put the route up again for next Tues. -

POSTPONED TILL NEXT WEEK
Looking at the weather and checking Alex's ride to the start progress, we've decided to postpone this one till next week. Looks like its going to rain all day and will leave the lanes in a bit of a mess which doesn't make for fun on a new route with none of us familiar with the terrain. Thought it better to call it now so you can make alternative plans for tonight. Will put up a new list for next week tomorrow.

Found this from Hertz in my inbox when i got back promoting a new Jaguar - not sure they have got the right machine with this descriptor...
'A rear-wheel drive convertible, its sleek lines and seductive curves conceal an engine of unadulterated raw power and stunning performance... beauty of line and purity of form.'Thanks for leading that Scarlett - a lovely night's riding. No idea where we went, but a wicked sunset, a spin along the canal and a bonus folly are all ingredients for a fine spin in my book. Warmest tnrc I can remember - I'd moved into pint anticipation mode long before the finish.
Think a potters Bar re-visit might be a good call for the next ride.

These weather websites are a tad pessimistic - it's apparently pissing down at the moment and was meant to rain all evening. Cheers all for a very fine night's riding, enjoyed that a lot. Lovely route, but St Marys Cray - what can you say. Spot on directions back west - thanks Dan. New ride up next week, somewhere north probably.

I've found an optimistic weather site, so I'm going with that... and getting the train back. Hopefully we'll get rolling about 8pm - 07939 520953 if anyone's running late on the ride out.

A very fine ride, lovely weather and everything seemed to run smoothly on the night - many thanks for putting that together Ben, the perfect antidote to a niggly work day on Friday. My last four visits to Bath have all involved sunshine, beer and breakfast - definitely one of my favourite cities. The idea of ambling over to Glastonbury post ride seemed a good one on Friday - but the reality of beers for breakfast and hills en route meant it was never going to happen. Hope Chris got a ticket from the surprisingly helpful ticket fellow at Bath station. Tomorrow night might be tough...

My preferred weather website (the most optimistic) says nothing worse than light rain tomorrow and even sunshine in the afternoon, so I'm going with that. Besides, I have a rapha clearance sale rain jacket that I need to get some value from... Shame you are out Tim - hopefully another time.
