Nhatt.. don't give up all hope. a friend of mine had a stuck fixed cup in a steel colnago. Broke my vice trying to get it out, in the end he took it to a blacksmiths who welded on a bar.. came out on the second attempt.
I also bought a frame the other week.. 3 different people tried to get the un54 out. Heat, wd40, plus gas, vice, extensions.. you name it. So i took it up to BikeFix with the idea of using OxyAcetaline on it.. tried the big vice first, bolted a bb remover to it. After a crack and a squeal it came out, without having to use any major heat.
This was a frame i had more or less given up on. It now rides like a dream.. after a face and chase. -

everyone knows that floor shows are much more intense.
Hydrant is pretty sweet. Reminds me of the Pressure Point.
I went to a show upstairs at the Hobgoblin a week or so ago. No stage that i remember but very intimate. Same goes for the Cowley, plus i think the Cowley is free to put on a show, taking donations on the door, though you would have to go through a member.
There is a small stage at Jam, as well as low ceilings for that true basement feel.
Otherwise, all venues with decent sized stages would better off being booked through a promo company. Audio and Concorde for example.
Miss the days of the Freebutt and Engine Rooms.
There are a few people floating about on here that could help out. Toby is the one with the contacts when it comes to Brightons hipster elite. OIB, Sex is Disgusting etc. Otherwise Toffy helps promote for the Freebutts punk and hardcore nights.

Polo is at the Newington courts. Just off Harper Road
http://maps.google.co.uk/?ie=UTF8&ll=51.497703,-0.095401&spn=0.004575,0.009506&z=17Easiest way to get there by train is changing at ECroydon and heading towards London Bridge. Turn left out the station, pedal down Borough High St.. Cross the junction and Harper is one of the next lefts. Hard to miss the polo when you get there.

As the title suggests, it is nearly time for the BFF polo tournament.
I am guessing this will be a lot more low key than the Open. A few Europeans expected but i doubt many north Americans. The Date is Sunday the 17th of October
It is part of a whole week of bike related films and events being hosted by the Barbican. The polo tournament will be at Newington courts.http://www.lfgss.com/thread50885.html
From what i gather, Jon wants to make it like the Polo of old with no established teams and minimal rules. I will try and find out exactly what this means when i next see him.
I think that this will suit Brighton polo very well.
Seeing as its over a month away i am sure we could get at least 3 teams involved.So.. List time.

So, it was a pretty fun evening. After a little waiting for people to turn up, 9 racers signed up. everyone set off at about 7-45, with strict instructions to be back by 9.
The idea was to visit as many local parks and green spaces on the manifest. The close and more obvious ones had a small number of points.. for example the Level and Pavillion Gardens had 5 points each. Stanmer park was worth 15points.
I also included a few "wildcard" entries. These were worth far more points, but only if you could get there and back within the hour or so. 50points for the racecourse, 100 for Devils Dyke and Ditchling Beacon.
In the end three people managed to get to Ditching, picking up a few others on the way.
Izzy - DFL and First Girl. She won a night with Harvey and some Tyre Levers.
They would have got to Devils Dyke had there not been an attack of Asthma. They did have time to stop off and try and bribe me with Burrito.Third - Paul. Won a few inner tubes and some patches.
Second - Steve. Won some Toe straps, tubes and a bottle of Guiness. And the most surprising of all. On a brakeless beater, no bar tape, deck shoes and battered toe clips. After nearly putting him down as a Non Finisher, he turned up with less than 30 seconds to go.
First Prize goes to Mr ThomBird.
He walked away with a set of riser bars with stem and a bottle of Jack Daniels.Good night of racing!
Our TV never did work the same after that match.
