Probably, the tyre makers have to appeal to general needs I suppose.
I go for puncture resistance above all else and make do with some slipping and sliding. I even go offroad (fire roads, singletrack etc,.) on 23c Armadillos for 50% of my rides. It keeps the bike handling skills up :-)
That's pretty much what I rock right now, UltraGatorSkin on the front and a bit of a curve ball with a Panaracer Stradius Sport TG on the back which does slide around a bit hence the dream of a new "Wonder Tyre" to replace it. Ho-hum.

You're both right of course.
My problem is just the variation of surface that I have to deal with on my ride.. tarmac, leafy (that was more of a scene setter than surface description) lanes, and glassy SOHO back streets.
My dream would be, an all black (with tan option) tacky rubber compound with a randonneaur/pasela style tread pattern with world beating puncture protection in 25c... is that really too much to ask? fucking hell!?

' Unless people are riding at over 100 miles per hour where aqua planing may apply"
So you've seen me ride then.
I'll ignore the "Ignorant" jibe ;)
My problem is a slightly gravelly, leafy section of my ride that I fancy having tread for. If the randonneur is shit in the wet then it's probably going to have to come off my list.

Got mysefl Panaracer Pasela TG Tyres a few weeks back. 1.25's on a light frame Carerra Subway.
I've been cycling about through rocky surfaces okay. They seem to be rather nice.
Slim, hard and the performence is great.I'm not that experienced with bikes yet, but what does anyone think of them?

I rode these all last winter front and back. I got about four punctures in that time all due to soho glass at the end of my 8.5 mile commute into town. they are a bit pricey but I was in love with the gum wall look at the time.
I'm leaving gum wall alone now but will return when I get some CD Mavics (no aluminium rim crap to turn your gum wall grey), I just wish the Randoneur came in 25c.

I totally agree. I bought a short sleeve last year and it was really, really good, the price does not reflect just how good they are.

My letter to the Mail
Here are the two email addresses that I sent my letter to.
letters@dailymail.co.uk and editorial@dailymailonline.co.uk
I tried to keep the letter well mannered in order to make my point. If anyone wants to copy and paste/edit, feel free
Subject: James Martin - Demand for an Apology
Dear Mr. Dacre,
I'm sure you are aware of the article that was written by Mr. Martin in which he embarrassed himself by recounting an incident while test driving a Tesla electric car. I am writing to you to ask you to demand an apology from Mr. Martin to be published in both the printed version and online version of the Daily Mail.
Mr. Martin's feelings towards cyclists are both ill-informed and juvenile but he is entitled to his opinion. I have my own opinions about him which I am also entitled to. Unfortunately Mr. Martin decided to publish the final paragraph that purports to be an account of an actual event in which he ran a number of cyclists off the road and into a hedge. This account of dangerous driving is not just offensive to avid cyclists but to anyone who has a friend or family member who rides a bicycle on roads shared with cars. Deliberately putting someone at risk of bodily harm while behind the wheel of a car is completely unacceptable and illegal.
The Daily Mail promotes itself as a family newspaper and a supporter of the rule of law and against antisocial behavior. Considering that Mr. Martin was being paid by the Daily Mail for this article and his disgusting behavior published in your pages, I know you will feel that it is your responsibility, as the editor of the newspaper, to demand the aforementioned apology from Mr. Martin immediately.
I look forward to hearing form you with your response to this letter.
Yours sincerely,
Scott Madill

Where did/do you normally skate, surely there must be someone there worth shooting with?
Search function is an awful effort for me considering ive just clicked 'Post New Thread', if you really feel its not relevant feel free to delete.
wasnt sure if this would go in classifieds or not, but anyway move it if need be.
The jist of it is,
Im a filmer, live in london. And im basically looking for some good skaters to film for my portfolio, Dont worry, i am competant, know my stuff and i dont complain. Basically if you're chilled out, like skateboarding and want to get involved in any video projects hit me up. Be down to have a laugh, thats all really. Be willing to carry lights/help me carry generators and the like, unless of course you have a car!
PM me or whatever. :>
Most of my footage is still on tapes not on my PC or on youtube and the like. so cant show you nowt. Will have some up soon though hopefully.
Might seem random posting this on here, not a specific forum, but i thought it might be worth a try, ive seen some posts about skating etc anyway.
Even if you arent that keen to film or anything, might be good to have some new people to skate with, most of the usual lot i skate with seem to be taking a break at the moment.

I really like this... the disc brake is about the only thing I'd change.
