I bought his solo stuff too, Woke Up Sticky
The fact he's still alive must amaze doctors as well as fans, he looked ok last night, still wears wraparound sunglasses and looks in need of a good meal, he said he was off the hard drugs and now used oxygen instead as he was in his fifties (about 56 I think)
not sure about the USA stuff, apparently he ran down a parking lot attendant in a fit of temper

2 weeks on and I'm giving up gears, I did a ride today of 16 miles and felt knackered after a mile and my legs were killing me by half way, wasn't even hilly or windy, my legs have never felt so tired as they do right now, previous 9 months on fixed and they never felt tired
back on fixed from now on

it was windy on my first ride and I didn't appreciate how much bigger the gears were, I ride 77" fixed, I struggled more with the wind behind trying to turn a much bigger gear than I'm used to, last night I kept it on the small front ring and it felt a bit better
next plan is to flip my fixed wheel and see if 81" would manageable on my local time trial course then the geared bike can be saved for hilly courses

anyone else find geared bikes use more energy or is it me?
been riding nothing but fixed for 9 months, feel quite fit, can do 25 miles fairly quick and not knackered at the end, got a road bike at the weekend and I'm shattered at the end of a couple of 16 mile rides, don't know if it's pushing a bigger gear with a tailwind or the fact that it seems to want to stop if I ease off slightly, my fixed feels like it wants to carry on, I got a geared bike to do some timetrials on but I'm seriously thinking of sticking to my fixed
anyone else find this with gears?

they told me to ring the sports booking team on 01273 292704 when I emailed them just to ask if it was okay to cycle round the track during the week, I never did ring
it's a hard thing to police anyway, even if you book it Joe Public won't take kindly to being told he can't play football or walk his dog near the track, I doubt the council do anything to help even though you've paid them

pleased to report the knee pain has gone
4 slices of my kids old football cut into cleat shapes and placed between the sole and cleat appear to have done the trick
my last few rides have been great, no pain at all and on one of them I even went quite fast for an oldie
BIG thanks to those that made suggestions

another Fuli for sale, not mine, no idea if it's any good but they mention Hubjub...

I found these packers but have to be ordered from the USA...
http://www.bikefit.com/products.php
I'll stick with my slices of plastic football for a while, did 16 miles last night and got some ache by the end but not as bad as usual so after a few more rides I should have an better idea if it's working or not

I thought my 50x17 was on the big side but then I don't have to stop much and it's fairly flat
I've just cut up my kids punctured football and placed 4 bits of it under my cleat making about 6mm of packing, will try that tomorrow and if it feels good will get some longer cleat screws on Monday and add a couple more slices

been riding fixed most days for about 9 months and I cannot get rid of a pain in my right knee (top front of knee cap)that starts after about 5 miles, doesn't hurt off the bike
I've tried: raising/lowering saddle, moving it backwards and forwards on the rails, different float on my time impact pedals, 2 pairs of shoes
last summer I did quite a few 35 miles rides without pain, now I usually do 8 or 16 miles most evenings and it hurts every ride
I'm 6'1" and ride an old 58cm reynolds 500 frame and I'm older than average I guess at 44
I did wonder whether go to a bike fitting place to see if spending 50 quid might sort the problem but I can't really afford that at the moment and have unsuccessfully been using trial and erroranyone had similar problems?
I saw them in Brighton, they are playing Camden on the 28th, http://www.theonlyones.biz/ has the dates
well worth seeing, made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up when they started with "Miles from nowhere" on Saturday night
