if the wheels have tubes in them take them out and get some tubeless sealant
Yeah the tyres are 'tubeless ready' but do have tubes. I got a flat on my first ride out going through some brambles and it took me about an hour and a half to figure out how to get the front wheel off! The whole axle slips out of its housing. Crazy. It's cool to feel like a total noob! This bike is so tech and complex compared to my other bikes (tourer and fixeds) it's like a motor bike. And @ MDCC - yes I'm going to have to do a bunch of reading on damping and the like. The rear shock has a platform switch so you can select 3 different levels of 'give'. The forks have 12" of travel that you can adjust by tweaking the dials on the crowns, and it has a 'special feature' called IT or 'Intelligent Travel' which is controlled by an additional switch on the bars that allows you to limit the travel in the front forks. From what I've read - and those who know please feel free to flame or advise all you want - this means I can limit the travel for more control over loose but even ground, and should I then happen upon a big drop, I have to pull up the front end, hit the switch, and the suspension extends to its max so I have as much cushioning as possible.
It really is ridiculous. I can't stop laughing! So much fun to be had! I will have to buy a helmet.

This is my new mountain bike. Never had one before. It's nuts! Properly like riding a tank after my other bikes which are more like hatchbacks. Bunny hopping is so easy as when you compress and jump up the suspension does the work for you - I've spent this evening charging up and down my street popping over speed bumps and over ramps in the pavement. I haven't had a sesh like that since I used to skate. Awesome! I got this off the CTW scheme so got it at a big discount over what was already a 60% reduction off the rrp as it's a 2007 bike. Pretty ridiculous. Got trips to the 7 Stains and Snowdonia booked over the next couple of weeks. A whole new part of bikes to explore. WOOOP!!

I think that the Marin might be pushing it a bit...BTW, why on earth did you end up with it? I can't imagine what use you would have for a hybrid![/QUOTE]
Um yes. Damn ebay finger. There is a part of my brain that is telling me I need a proper beater for the rare occasions when I have to lock up at a station overnight. The intelligent part of my brain says there is another way to deal with a situation that happens only once or twice a year. I think I'm just desperate for a new project!

Hello everybody.
I have a TV going for anyone who wants it. The picture is excellent but the speakers are a bit knackered and muffly. I've used it plugged up through my stereo and that works fine. It comes with a remote.
It's 26" big and because it's CRT it's as deep as it is wide and it's heavy so you'd need a car to pick it up or a trailer.
Collection Hackney Central asap please. If no takers by end of Sunday it goes in the skip!
Thanks.
Jim.

Octavia's winning then. From what I hear they're made on the same production line as VW's. But because of the name you get more for your money.
My good friend at work suggests a Daewoo (SP?) as they have recently offered a 7 year service guarantee?
I'd be very happy to get over a badge if it means having a good car that isn't considered cool rather than the other way round.

While there are threads that discuss the merits of particular panniers I have searched but haven't found one that says which is best so...
Ortlieb get great reviews but they have no small pocket and take a bit of time to get in to. Vaude are similar. Carradice Super C I really like the look of but are reputedly very heavy and not totally waterproof.
I've done a fair bit of touring with £25 SJS bags that were great but have just about fallen apart over the last five years so I'm looking to make an investment and would appreciate your comments and advice if you've had good experiences with the usual suspects mentioned above or others.
Thanks.
Jim.

Gah. I may be too late but if the cranks are JIS then I'd love them. If I don't hear I'll assume not KC.
