Tubular clinchers... all the disadvantages of a tubular (pucture = a new tyre) with dubious benefits. It's no wonder tubular clinchers don't seem to have caught on... IMHO.

The steel ring on my beater simply has not worn, no matter what. Chains last well on that bike too.

...is how i feel about tubs after a puncture. The rest of the time I love their suppleness when you get out to smooth roads. Changing tubs isn't so hard (tape is quick and easy).

You'll want to spec 25.4mm or 26mm clamp too.

www.eta.co.uk got recommended in the guardian yesterday. i've read through all their terms and conditions and they seem pretty favourable. the cost is slightly less than that from the lcc recommendation, too. personally, i haven't had cycle insurance for a long time, preferring instead to invest my 60 quid a year in upgrading my lock situation. i wonder what others think of this strategy? should i now consider getting insurance with these people, given that i have plenty of locks?
Thank for this link. They've just sorted me out for £64 a year on an £800 bike. I think I'll still get some pitlock skewers though as this only seems to cover theft of the whole bike.

Your saddle, bars & lever do scream a bit. But that's purely aesthetics. The steerer though... that's unforgivable ;-)
It looks to me like a bike built with a purpose in mind. I bet it's quick.

ummm 36 or 32?
If you lace 36 spokes you Open Pros you should have a really strong wheel. It's nice to have that confidence when riding in a city to pop curbs etc with no fear of things going out-of-true. It's your rear wheel that takes the battering.
That said my bikes have 32 spoke rear wheels... because I only weigh 60kg. I'd like a 28 spoke front wheel ideally.
Sano is right, your existing hub is going to dictate which rim you'll need. I think Charge use 36h (but do check!).
