I agree with this. I buy XT but apart from saving a few grams and a better shifter mechanism, I know it is for vanity over Deore/SLX.
@ao1989 yes, SRAM is plasticky and doesn't shift as well, especially for the lower level groupsets. I think it was only so popular because it had an extra sprocket

Genuine Q: Why would you choose a carbon mudguard over a cheapy plastic one? They look flipping cool but I think I'd prefer something less stiff for when the inevitable stone or twig gets caught and sends you OTB.
Also, those crown mount guards don't seem to offer any protection to the seals/stanchions which is the main part of having a guard IMO
