There was a guy at Herne Hill last year selling a set of lightly used 32/40 Campag Pista hubs for £120... They are out there, you gotta keep looking! He also had some NOS boxed 36h for £130... Alas, I was skint... That was a fucking shit day (bargain-wise)...
i have a pair of 27" rims.. they could be 32/40h. However they're quite old as they were off a 1949 Hobbs i was given so they date from roughly then.

Of course, it´s a Panasonic* from 1998, thumb size dent right where the front wheel meets the DT.
I need to check it properly, dunno if that dent will affect the (possible) fail of the frame... but it was cheap, only reason I got it. Gabe´s the man!!.. Well it´s the 3rd frame I got from him, only this year... so I truly recommend buying from him - NJS EXPORT.
I fear having to replace the DT so..... need to ask for quotes from frame builders.. : S*Checkout the lugs.... absolute lust.
+1
Gabe is cool.

any thoughts/experiences with the shimano 600 / ultegra quill stem? I have never used one before (or the identical dura ace) but I am considering purchasing one to match my other shimano components -- just wondering if the hidden bolt system is reliable and if the stem is not likely to fail.

i've got a DA and a 600 one...
as quoted earlier a 6mm a/k does the job has to be a long one though to reach the end.
i've had no problems with them and they're god knows how old and still going strong. -

From the Manc. rules.
- Track bikes must have a fixed wheel, 165mm cranks, and 280mm (11”) bottom bracket height (measured from floor to centre of bottom bracket), no braze ons, and must have track ends. Coaches must advise riders to check their own bikes before taking to the track, including: tyres, chain tension, wheel nuts. If a “fixie” bike is used, that matches the measurements above, and has brazed ons or cast cable or gear stops, they must be padded with foam and taped over with insulating tape.
- Use Continental, Schwalbe or Vittoria clinchers or tubulars (black tread only), 23 mm wide. Tyres must be inflated to 8 bar (119psi), and the pressures, and tyre condition checked regularly. Do not use Michelin tyres or any dual compound tyres. Other tyres and tubulars may in future be recommended after analysis. Do not use tub tape to fix tubulars to sprint rims – use proprietary rim cement.
- Do not use brand new tyres on the track without first preparing them thus; rub the surface with alcohol or white vinegar or other degreaser before use. Ride the first three laps on the Cote d’Azure or bottom of track. No spare sprocket on double rear hub
- Bar ends must be fitted, and secure in handlebars.
- No quick release spindles. Wheel spindles should not extend beyond the track nuts, front and rear, and should be sawn off flush with the nut, and filed smooth.
- Recommended gears for novices, and all riders on taster sessions - 84” gear adults, 74” for 9 -12 year olds.
- The gearing on Velodrome hire bikes range from 72.6” (44 x 15) to 83.9” (50 x 16).
- Gearing for all endurance SQT’s, including Madison and Derny, shall e restricted to 88”. The only exception is the “A” SQT, where it is unlikely that there are any Velodrome bikes (84” gears) used on this session. It does not apply to Sprint or Sprint/Keirin SQT’s. However, youth accredited riders should ride a gear as per the relevant Youth category gearing in BC Technical Regulations, or lower – see table.
- Do not have any active devices such as bike computers or digital displays that can distract you whilst riding. As a computer is a “projection” it is not allowed
I ran my Yellow Veloflex tyres at 9 bar... and the BB height was 5mm too low with 167.5 cranks.. oh dear fail, fail, fail, fail, fail. However i did use a 44x15 which is actually a 79.2".
