...It has achieved approximately one successful skid.
DO A ....! Never mind.
BTW proper lols above. Milk out of my nose etc.
Just been driving around today sorting some errands at work. The stepper motor I think will last no more than 4/5 cold starts before it disintegrates. Large dollops of fuel being thrown into cylinders with what feels, sounds and smells very much like no air! Sounds pretty gruff though ;)

but one has to get one's Miami Vice on from time to time.
Would rep if I new how to or gave a shit about repping for that matter as I don't believe your going to feel better about yourself if I did so...
Yes.
It has the engine in the correct end, and within the wheelbase.
It has the name of the man who built the engine on a little brass badge.
It has four twin-choke Weber carburettors.
It doesn't have vicious lift-off oversteer that lands you in a hedge.
It is the most beautiful GT car ever designed,
It has a lovely interior, and everything fits like a glove, more than any other car I have sat in.
It soothes and cossets when you want to go gently, but when you put your foot down it is savagely fast.
People love them, even non car people.
You get let out of side turnings.
It is fundamentally engineered correctly, rather than being engineered fundamentally incorrectly and then developed over 30 or 40 years until it became driveable.I wouldn't mind a 911 one day. If I had one it would be a 1980s Carrera CS lightweight in white. but I would rather have an 80s Aston V8 any day of the week.
911's also rust like fuck, and are expensive to restore.
EVERYTHING is expensive to restore. Parts costs pail into insignificance when you consider the ticker on the man hours involved in resto's.
Not sure why your hating on Porsche so much. The most historied marque paired with an extreme pursuit of perfection. People aren't hating on Aston as a brand in considering history, only the current line up of photocopies which include a number with a little highlighting for which AM think it appropriate to slap 60% of the originals price tag on top of it's price. However there are people who buy these, so go figure what the clientèle is like (turn around touch the ground no combacksies on Porsche in that regard)

^^RS. But yeah. I always think the 993 is the perfect design. Standard body on the 2 & 4 have such incredibly beautiful, smooth lines; the rear quarter is extremely pleasing. Yet with shit loads of gunk thrown on as per GT2/RS/Gemballa/etc the overall look is still very attractive.
The only other car that I can think of off the top of my head that was able to do that was the Lambo Countach. Georgeous in it's original guise, and stunningly aggressive in SV 500 regalia.

There was an army recruitment advert on the TV recently which was so similar to parts of COD Black Ops it's like the director wasn't even trying to hide the fact he was glamorising war.
Also reminds me of an episode of Never Mind the Buzzcocks when Simon Amstel told of how he once did a voice over for an army recruitment advert and said to someone there, 'I feel bad that I'm recruiting people to go off to war and die'. The woman replied, something on the lines of 'don't worry, it's only the lowest rungs of society who reply'.
Blimey. Wish I could find that on youtube.

I'm very much with Vinyl on the new Defender, in person it looks fantastic. And when you bare in mind how many after market companies are modernising the current model to make them look 'more' (twisted performance/BBH/JE/I could go on, there are probably over 100 serious companies in the UK alone).
There are a few enthusiasts that are complaining that it detracts too much from the 'work horse' look of the defender, but when you bare in mind just how long the current model has been produced it is time to modernise it. Many people said the same when the Series 3 was replaced.
It looks modern utilitarian to me. And yes your right, it will sell in MASSIVE numbers. Bare in mind how many people are buying defenders these days who never take them off road as people are disillusioned by the current RR models. This will be a perfect fit and Landy Jag will make huge money. Also a good opportunity to upgrade the thing as the internals are a bit ancient these days.
Already a few after market companies producing concepts for the market as well.
