So to get to the heart of the matter, the bandying of insults was started by you Torpid (just so you know your name = elitist rowing race in oxford).
Oh and btw, I don't really give a shit, I'm just bored of this D- thread and its stupid theme.
My username came from a thesaurus. I couldn't log in to my actual user account as I have already mentioned. So i just opened up the thesaurus and Torpid it was.
The aviator was an after though.

No, what happened is that a bunch of us told you to chill out and forget about it and you decided to call Aidan a kiddy-fiddler, which isn't partic. funny. I thought alikening it to the kind of thing a Scientologist would do might make you laugh, rather than getting even more pissed off, but there you go.
And ignore BlowieBen, if I remember right he is indeed 17 and lives in Brum and it looks like he was jumping into the conversation for shits and giggles.
Once again if you read the thread you'll see that I dealt with Ben differently, after all he only a kid.
Aidan gave it the large and threw some banter my way. I gave some back. But I'm the criminal apparently. Several people have given abuse in this thread but I get singled out as I'm the newby who won't fall in line and surrender to their supposed superiority.

fair enough...i'm all for fighting for what you believe in.unfortunately this is the Internet ,there will be no winners neither will there be deaths.
Well my bet is that most of us live in London. What with bike & boat race pics up on the forum. Maybe it isn't such a clean cut this is the internet, it's a separate entity, everyone will be safe.

1) you say click (sic) i say "community"
2) have you met big daddy wayne? how do you know if he deserves to be called a cunt?
3) it's called "not being a cunt". i don't come to your local pub where you drink with your mates, shit on the floor and then complain about "elitist bullshit" when you suggest that might not the best way to behave. who is anyone to tell you what to do? we shouldn't HAVE to tell you how to behave here. but seeing as how you're apparently intent on lumping us all together in one "elitist clique" and abusing anyone who crosses your path... apparently you need to be told.
told how you would like me to behave so i fit your image of the world?!
no thanks. I'm not lumping you all together. Just talking about those who have given me abuse in the thread.
Stop with your assumptions. Have you met me?
has Dum Daddy Wayne met me? NO & NO. so maybe he should of been a little more diplomatic and guess what maybe he would have got a more diplomatic response.
Who do you speak of when you say "we"?

PERHAPS Mashton suggested you might be wrong, you reacted snarkily "i put him in his place oh ho ho yes i did", his friends defended him and gave you some relatively gentle ribbing, you took it badly and called wayne a cunt then accused aidan of being a child-molester, the rest of us took that rather badly and told you it might be a good idea to pull your head in, which you didn't, and now you're spouting some embarrassing psuedo-psychology and reinforcing our belief that you are, in fact, a complete tosser.
and you still haven't told us who you used to be.
When other people jump in like that it only reinforces a clicky in crowd tone.
Nice one!!!
Like I said I ain't called anyone a cunt who don't deserve it.
I don't follow orders. again tribal elitist bullshit. Who is anyone to tell me what to do?

Have you considered a bike with a ss/fg rear hub? You can have both on one bike.
Does that sound like someone who came on here to rip into fixed gear riders or individual members? Read the thread for fuck sake.
My suggestion about the cornering is valid and very relative to the thread.
Mashton then took the tone that as he had been to Cambridge he was superior to me and could therefore be little myself.
Speaking as a fixed rider who also has freewheeled bikes and a Part 1A qualification in Physics from (wait for it) Cambridge University, I think you are speaking twaddle; except in the case where the cornering speed to which you are referring sends my fixed cadence stupidly high (> 145 rpm or so, I suppose), such as in an Alpine descent. On London roads, never.[/quote]
So I simply put him in his/her place and then others jump in like wounded little animals as someone suggested that there may be a situation where fixed gear dosn't offer the best solution.
Maybe you guys have spent many years of your life longing for something, a sence of belonging. The fixed gear community/scene has answered that for you and you now have your little tribe. Heaven forbid anyone shatter the dream by suggesting that it's not perfect.
Oh and father xmas ain't real either.

you're allowed to, but when you only joined the forum a week ago and have gotten stuck straight into abusing established forum members it does make you look like a prat.
i don't know if you are a prat or not. whether or not your original comment about SS vs fixed being better through corners is true or false, i don't know (i suspect the physics is more complex that just whether or not your feet are still). whatever. from a quick glance at your other posts you seem like a reasonable human being, and not an idiot.
but this is not the way to go about introducing yourself to the forum.
Read the thread
I didn't start anything, just holding my own, thats all.
I stand by my comments in reference to Mashtons post.
And i been using this forum for longer than a week......but what the fuck has that got to do with anything?

Torpid you have completely missed the tone of this discussion and the forum...no one cares, no one is interested in threatening you, intimidating you or abusing you.
i strongly suggest you go and make yourself a nice cup of tea (maybe a few hobnobs) and read past discussions.Maybe you should read this one, in chronological order.
