it's my wifes birthday next week and I want to take her to do something interesting (we were thinking of goning for a sandwich in sandwich but the train fare is a joke), so I was thinking about doing some kind of climbing class together. I've done very basic indoor climbing before (about 10 years ago) but she has never done any. does anyone have any suggestions of where would be best to give it a crack in London?
I see the castle does taster sessions for £20 each, is that a decent price or would we be better looking elsewhere?
thanks.

I know that is a bit of an open question. I've been riding about 16 miles a day, 5 days a week (+ some weekend riding) for a year and i'm a bit concerned that my chain might need replacing.
Within the last month or two as soon as it gets wet, or slightly more mucky than usual it starts making a loud click every other(ish) crank rotation. at first I thought this might be a BB problem, but after giving the drive chain a clean it stops, until the next time it gets wet or muck builds up. the frequnecy of this seems to have increased. How do you know if your chain has stretched?
Anyway, is a year about right for a chain when riding fixed? I've been pretty slack on the cleaning side, which i'm sure hasn't helped.
I'm running a miche ring and an EAI cog, any chain recommendations?
Cheers.

I'd also echo what Ed said.
My Mrs started off with a Dutch bike, which she is still madly in love with, but it is just too big and heavy to move up and down from our 4th floor flat (I really struggle with it) and also not ideal now we live in forest hill - those hills with a Dutch bike are a no go. She won't sell it, because it is exactly how she wants a bike to be, but she just can't ride it.
So, as she was still showing a (faint) interest I got an old Pug from ebay and have spent the last few months slowly converting it into a SS, which was completed a couple of nights ago. It is no where near as pretty as the Dutchie, but far more practical and so she is starting to ride it (even going to start riding to work next week).
If you can find a balance of looks and comfort you'll be onto a winner. I think we've spent between £150-175ish on the pug in total, which is more than I wanted to, but could be worse.
Sorry about the crappy phone pics. I'll get some proper shots at the weekend and then update myself (bike has changed) and add Abby in the names and face thread.

I really want to give it a go, so will look into it properly when funds allow. After speaking to the mrs at lucnh time I think she would prefer to do something more for her than me on her birthday. which is a shame.
