probably has 27" rims. 700c are slightly smaller so you might want to check that the drop on the brakes is long enough if you switch to 700c. 27" will look better if the frame was built with that size in mind but 700c will be much easier to source tyres for, more choice of rim etc.

Original Mulatu LPs will be priced pretty high if they appear in these shops, def cheaper on ebay, or check vinyl vulture/VG + forums for trades. If it's new/reissue LPs then Sounds of the Universe as mentioned.

You either need a saddle with loops on, such as a brooks. Or enough space on the saddle rails to fit a clamp.

Just cycled this last week (well the Dieppe to Paris section, didn't have time for London-Newhaven). Route is pretty gentle with only a couple of decent hills. I was geared but the other managed it fine on a ss with a pretty heavy load. Camped at Forges les Eaux and Triel sur Seine. Forge les Eaux was 5 euro per night for both of us, free showers, Triel was 11 euro and 2 euro per shower (this was the 1st site you come to, there is another one next door, slightly pricier. There is a 2km downhill on the way into Triel sur Seine that was lovely to coast down, would be a shame to have to go down on a fixed! Normandy is beautiful to cycle through, quiet country roads, considerate drivers. Followed the Donald Hirsch route - v.good directions, only got lost once or twice, didn't have a map but there are very useful maps on bus stops/billboards in every village and town. Pics to follow at some point.

Not too bothered about the cut out head tube but otherwise very nice if a little pricey for the spec.

Used sandals every day when not on the bike - always good to let the feet breath.
Locked up the bikes with 2 x evo mini and 2 x cables (2 bikes) to whatever was available. The tent I used was a vango banshee - was a bit too small - not enough porch space. Next time will be using a north face tadpole - bit bigger porch, only 2.1kg. Wouldn't fancy carrying a tent that was much heavier than that. If you want to be hardcore and superlight, hammocks and tarps could be a good look.

From what I read on his blog, he missed out Iran/Pakistan cos its pretty dangerous at the mo. Not sure how it can be cycling around the world if you miss chunks out but I suppose that's up to Guinness. Fair play to him for doing it and raising all that cash though. He's in Thailand now (flew over Burma as well, but I suppose that can't be helped - as there isn't a land border that's open).

the first 40 miles in France follows Avenue Verte, a disused railway track, so should be pretty quiet.
