I work in a school in Deptford and a few years ago the school received some funding, bought loads of awful mountain bikes and had a short-lived cycling club for the pupils. I'd say the bikes got about a max of ten outings. Since then they have sat in the bike shed, unused and gathering dust. The school now wants rid and has asked me to find a home for them. Ideally they would go to a school/community cycling project/charity. You will need to collect. Message me if you would like more info...

Any of the kayakers on here paddle at Lee Valley? I did my legacy assessment (required if you just want to turn up and play) last year and have been paddling there quite a bit recently. It's awesome! Most fun you can have in London for £6 an hour I reckon....

I've been using the life systems drops for a while now, no foul taste, but a bit of a pain though as you have to mix the drops, wait 10 min, stick em in the water, wait 30min more.

I always take a victorinox classic sd. One of the tiny keyring knives. It has the added bonus of being able to pass through airport security when attached to keys as they never seem to notice it...
Never found that I have needed a bigger knife as I can do everything I need to with this one, chop veg, slice cheese etc.

Yes, cycle route out west of Glasgow isn't that nice and the bit around bottom of loch lomond is particularly grim. Busy with day trippers on hire bikes and lots of litter. If you can change your start, B818 out of Falkirk through Carron Bridge and on to Drymen is very nice. Or go north from Glasgow and onto the Crow Rd (B822) at Lennoxtown then B818 from Gonachan towards Drymen.

much nicer to go straight north from Glasgow and through the Campsie fells, lots of quiet roads, rolling not too hilly and if you detour past Carron reservoir you might see the Osprey....

Also planning on doing something like this though may not make it as far as Finchingfield. Might just sit at a nice countryside spot 25ish miles out with a track pump, some spare tubes and a case of beer. First time in about 5 years that I can't do the ride. Boo!

Scottish islands are brilliant! especially the outer hebrides. I'm planning on the c2c at some point, might try and squeeze it into a weekend. Also heading to the pyrenees in july to ride some hills and hopefully watch a bit of the tour.

i have a set of gilles berthoud mudguards that i got cheap a while back from planet x, then bought all the fittings from sjs as i didn't realise they were not included! Tried to fit them, took hours, was very sweary, ended in failure. Now I need to pay someone to do this for me...

tl:dr - can anyone recommend a bikeshop near archway that will do this for a decent price without too much bodging? They're to go on a Tokyo Fixed Wide Open so have the necessary braze-ons

I have these cranks on a couple of bikes. Decent and seem to last. I got them from hilary stone. Sold as zenith, £65 inc chainring.

I cycled to Budapest on the Rhine and Danube in 2007. Then continued to Istanbul but the Danube path finished somewhere in Serbia. It was amazing. Would recommend.
