I set up my boyfriend's bike for him (he must be desperate if he's letting me do it!)
and there seems to be a problem...
We bought a 1/8 rear cog and a 1/8 chain but we're using an old bianchi chainring that's been kicking around our flat. Not sure where it came from.
Anyway, the chain's all oiled up and he went out for his first ride on the new set up this morning... but the chain is really noisy, almost as if it's the wrong size or something.
So here's the question: how can I tell if the Bianchi chainring is compatible?
Or could it be something else, like maybe the chain line is out? or it's too slack?
Thanks for any help! -

oh where to build mallets? How complicated this is becoming!
We need our own mallets then we can always play even if everyone else can't make it. We could leave them at Foxx's office down the road.
How was last night anyways? Me, Kat and Posy turned up, waited till about 7.40 when Vic showed up and then I went home. We were on our way out when Vic showed and by that point I'd already decided what I could have for tea if I went home! I need to pack more snacks in future -

I think Em and Chandra are coming as well. I have lots of piping if you ladies want to make your own, I've got mine but keep forgetting to bring it. I also have a spare ski pole going, and some bolts, hacksaw and drill. Damn I'm organised..If you can get hold of poles and get down my gaff I'm happy to have a mallet building day, combined with a quick game at my local park and BEERS. That is if you manage to get all the way down my manor..come on..that southern air will do you good.
p.s. i've had words with the authorities about the 'Trixie Chics' incident....
Sounds mighty fine to me! Lets set a date

Anyone got any cheapo wheels they'd like to get rid off?
I'm trying to sort out my boyfriend's bike and he is running a suicide hub which I'm not happy about.
If not, any idea what would be the very cheapest hubs and rims I could buy? Well, at least the very cheapest but not completely useless...
He has no money at the mo so its looking like I'm paying! -

Great. Thanks Scott! Now I need to save up and buy one.
By the way, I have a Bucky Lasek Pro tec helmet on ebay, if anyone is interested. Its CPSC certified which means it's suitable for bikes (on the road)
Its the wrong size for me
