a male type banshee was spotted last night heading west from Kings Road to Putney around 6:30pm.
At the slightest hint of a car pulling out in front of him a huge shout would emenate from this cyclist. A car would be about to emerge from a side road and would nose out an inch to see what traffic was coming - cue a very loud bellow from from the male cyclist lasting several seconds as he whooshed past glaring at the car. He was on a on one frame i think with singlespeed and he had horns on his cycle helmet.
I cycled along behind to just enjoy the strangeness of this guys style. he was fond of loudly telling drivers off for being in the ASL box. I don't think he was as fast as the female banshee from reports but his presence on the road was something to behold

same goes for the wars in Iraq & Afghanistan.. I can't imagine the Tories not having done the same
Perhaps, at the same time the only people who had all the evidence available were the Labour cabinet. It was their arguments that took us there. However, I think you are probably right that the Tories would have done the same, purely cos of the pressure from the yanks.

Don't get me wrong - the current government has gone law crazy and has stripped many civil liberties. I just don't think the current opposition wouldn't have done them themselves (and has done by voting in favour).
possibly, but the current opposition has stood up to 90 days, has stood up to expansion by stealth of the DNA database as well as other things like the use of RIPA and giving powers of surveillance (which were intended for serious law enforcement) to councils. I know that this is easier in opposition but I just think this Government has gone too far too often which is why I won't vote for them.
On top of that they have f*cked the public finances so we will be paying shedloads of tax to pay interest as opposed to spending it on front line services. Taxes will probably have to rise to pay off the debt whilst at the same time we will be expecting public services to be cut. Essentially the country has been moved to a position where we will be paying more for lessin the coming years imho.

*The right to marry and found a family (article 12)- Freedom from discrimination (article 14)
*The right to property (article 1 of the first protocol)
*The right to education (article 2 of the first protocol)
*The right to free and fair elections (article 3 of the first protocol)
*The abolition of the death penalty in peacetime (articles 1 and 2 of the sixth protocol)
*Right to effective remedy (article 13);
Prohibition of abuse of rights(article 17);
Limitation on use of rights (article 18).
Which of these do you have a problem with?
all this is rather nice, but this is also from the government that wanted to lock people up for 90 days without a trial, Has been rather suspicious in how it has reacted to reports of terror prisoners being sent to dodgy parts of the world to be tortured (extraordinary rendition), wanted to retain innocent people's DNA on the DNA database indefinitely and are just in my view extremely authoritarian in their outlook.
On top of this, the level of debt we are in which has paid for lots of nice things granted means that over the next 10 years the public finances will be hit which means that we will have lots less nice things regardless of which party gets in.
I know ...... I'm a c*nt

I had an awful thing happen that nearly ruined the wire for me. I really liked some of the music from the wire, especially solomon burke - fast train.
So stupidly i youtubed it and was listening to it, when I noticed a video link in the side saying "Jimmy Mcnulty's wake" . I spent the entireity of series 4 and 5 expecting Mcnulty to die and just watching for how and who might kill him. :-( FAIL

I am beginning to wonder whether my buttock stands as a metaphor for the Iraq war: best not to intervene, however unpleasant current circumstances might be, if you are unclear as to the result that that intervention might have.
I think your bum is the battle of El Alamein.
"I have never promised anything but blood, tears, toil, and sweat(and Lymph fluid)....this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. but it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning." (Winston Churchill November 10, 1942 after a Victory at the Battle of El Alamein in North Africa)
