Its very hard to compare these things but I reckon the 112 miles is the closest your going to get and I reckon that would be for a flat course. 112 miles may seem easy but then your not working hard enough! I'm training for a half marathon at the moment after doing loads of cycling this summer, the distance hasn't been bothering me at all its just doing it in anyway fast enough as I'm a terrible runner.

Yeah Hackney Police are very helpful, my mate who got his bike stolen that I mentioned above thought he maybe found it for sale in Hackney on guntree. It was stolen in Oxford so he phoned the police there, they basically said forget about it just get insurance next time and don't think about trying to meet up with them if you value your legs. He arranged to meet them anyway, I suggested he phoned the Hackney police who arranged to have plain clothed police patrolling the area and gave him a number and code to call and they would be there imediately. Unfortunately the guy never turned up with the bike and the phone number has never worked since, he thinks they got spooked by gumtree as he reported it to them on the advice of the Oxford Police.

I was once told that there was no Brompton that could fit me, as I have a 36" inside leg and am 6'2". Is this true or are there custom builders who build longer bits?
Mind you, this was years ago and I haven't checked it out since.
I'm 6'6" with long legs and fit a brompton fine. You have 2 options, you can get an extended seatpost which means when its all folded down the seat will stick out further, not sure by how much, or you can get the telescopic seatpost which will give you at least an extra 6" and slides into itself so its only an inch or 2 longer when its all folded up. I've got the telescopic seatpost and it works great for me.
Someone else is using mine at the moment as I don't really need it all the time now otherwise you could of had a go of it. I got mine in cycle surgery and they had all the stuff there for me to try without them having to order it in.

I don't think thats true really, a basic first aid kit can be very useful as first aid until an ambulance arrives but probably more important is being trained in first aid and know how to use the kit and what to do. I have a friend who is a paramedic and he has said arriving at an accident where people have done some simple first aid makes a huge difference especially with stuff like CPR.
I've also been unfortunate enough to be at an accident and if it wasn't for the fast action of people around who knew first aid the guy would probably of died, he's now made an almost full recovery and is very glad to be alive.

Vaguely on-topic:
Bit of a long shot, but has anyone ever seen the rather odd chap on a SS, who rides around Richmond? I've seen him a couple of times when he was wearing bunny ears and calling out "shabba".The only other occasion that i've spyed him, he was riding no-handed whilst whistling a sea shanty!?
Slightly concerned that i imagined it...
I've seen this guy a few times, he balls at any car that comes too close to him. Once I was cycling behind him and a car came and turned in front of us cutting us both up. He set off after the car shouting at it, I kept on going and he caught up with me later and asked if it was me that got cut up, said yes and he said the driver apologises, he'd made the car stop and made them apologise. Then he said he liked noising up traffic as they think they can get away with it to cyclists but he's in the marines and hard as nails! I love the bunny ears though, its a nice contrast to his aggressive riding style.

I don't know anything about the Womens Specific Stuff as I've no experience of being a woman, but have spent a lot of time trying to get bikes to fit me and my advice if you are not the stock shape size for most bikes be very careful. If you have a bike that you think is close at the moment I would really recomend getting a bike fitting, then you can take the data from this and make sure the frame/bike suits you properly. I bought a new bike then went for a fitting and ended up replacing the stem, bars, seatpost and cranks. I wish I'd got the fitting done on my old bike and then got something that is right straight away, it would of saved me loads on money.

I lived in holland for a year as a student and everyone just rode really cheap 2nd hand dutch bikes. They were so cheap that when I got a puncture it was easier to get another, think I only got one puncture but snapped a set of forks on one, another the pedal back brake broke staying half on the whole time then the pedal snapped off and various others got nicked or removed by the police. Brought one back thats now in my mums garden with plants growing up it. Should really get it working sometime but to be honest Nhatts idea would be far better and wouldn't weight as much as a tank.

You guys seem to be obsessed with looks for some strange reason. You must be ten to know, that someone's twat only by looking at him :-)
- How many of you who buy these bags are actual messengers?
- Pro don't use cheap plastic buckles - they simply snap. Radius, you 're talking through you're arse. Billingham isn't posey - it's a functional old design which will outlive any shitty chinese made Tamrac. Anyway, I use alu cases or pelicases, not Tamrac. It's a joke, isn't it?
I was a messenger and used crumpler, timbuk2 and pac bags throughout my carrear, the crumpler was barely waterproof so I can hardly imagine them being at the top end of camera bags as they were pretty average messenger bags 10 years ago. I now have an archies ninja and the only thing that comes close to quality of it is the pac bag.
Good quality plastic buckles will definately not break, when I was at uni my design teacher talked of making a plastic fixture for an army belt thing. The army guy came and said it was good but needed to be made out of metal so it didn't break. He asked him to try and break it, the army guy spent the next 20mins trying to break it by stamping on it with his big boots on, eventually it cracked, but it still worked correctly.

I've snapped loads of chains on mountainbikes and road bikes. Never though on a track bike but if everything is set up right and installed correctly I think it should be ok.
Most of the time its probably from badly worn or installed chains. Last weekend though was out on a brand new mtb and the chain snapped in the first mile, fixed it by shortening the chain then 500 meters further it snapped again, I presume at the point where I fixed it. Luckily someone going past gave me a quick link, had no problems after that. Very annoying though. -
With or without chaintugs, if your wheel is slipping enough to break chains you need to sort out your axle nuts and htfu when tightening them. Basically you shouldn't be relying on tugs to hold your wheel in place.. that's what the nuts are for.
My track bike has chrome dropouts, these are a nightmare with standard phil wood hub, the bolts on phils are not grippy or big enough to grip the dropouts not matter how hard you tighten them. I ended up getting the phil chrome domes which are basically something that should be supplied with the hubs but they sorted it fine without having to use tugs. Tugs seem a total faff and I'm not keen on the look of them.
Yup I've been to Cali, amazing. I was there from boxing Day till Jan the 2nd quite a few years ago, massive festival on that was amazing. Spent most of my time going to Salsa clubs and various parades and festival things during the day. Would definitely recommend Cali its a beautiful place with pretty much the most beautiful women in the world there, they're all like super models!
Also went to Bogota, can't really remember what I did don't think I was there that long but from what I remember it was a beautiful city.
