I held a light for that photo of Clive, I feel I left a distinctive touch on the photo! He said he was there for C+ but he normally works for Rouleur, he got slightly offended when asked if he worked for Cycling Weekly.
Looking at his website he's brought back some cracking memories of Mountainbiking back in the day. I'm going to go through my photos now and find my ones from that era, can't wait. Probably all be terrible as I was 11 and used a free camera from supersnaps!

first/third, it's all gravy.
well done you. I wouldn't have ridden that in the dark, with a million other riders buzzing about, it would have been like some kind of off-road commuters peloton.
I am planning some more interesting obstacles for next year, maybe some land mines and bear traps
I think you should put a bonfire in the centre of the new berm!

I did way better than I thought, I didn't come last!
I asked a seasoned crosser before hand for tips and he said to try really hard for a good start to avoid the bottle necks. I managed to get close to the front and got a good start then overtook a few people to make it into the singletrack 3rd. Then it went downhill

Cheers for the advice AlexB!
I'm doing the course in March and just got the pack with all the pre information (not very much) the other day. I've decided aftre loads of deliberation to make a lugged cross bike with mounts for mudguards and stuff so it can be used for winter road training as well. Also hopefully, if I can afford it get him to fit it with S&S couplings. I'm going to send them an e mail asking what tubing and lugs I can use so I can do a bit of research into what I want to use now.
Alex did you go in with your geometry all designed before hand?
Is there a wide variety of lugs and stuff to use?
Also does anyone know of any suitable metal working course I could do beforehand in London to get a bit of a head start?

I've got some good info from this thread but still not too sure how I will train over the winter. Probably mainly try to go out on chaingangs avoid the turbo and get out mountain biking occasionally.
Thought I would change my chainring to gear down over the winter and just realised campag chainrings are £70 from parker international!

I've got 2 sets of cranks for sale here:
1st Brand New Boxed Campagnolo Centaur Compact Carbon UT 2009 Crankset
Crank Arms are 175mm with 50/34 tooth chainrings
These have never been fitted.........£160
2nd Used Campagnolo Veloce UT 2009 Crankset + Bottom Bracket
Crank arms are 175mm with 53/39 tooth Chainrings
I used these for a few months before I changed to a compact chainset so they have some wear on the chainrings and scuffs on the arms but still in good condition with plenty of life left in the chainrings..............£50
I would prefer cash and not to post. I live South London but am prepared to meet up in London to deliver them

I like the look of these:
http://www.bikeradar.com/news/article/interbike-new-vector-power-meter-from-metrigear-23513if the write ups true they'll be lighter, simpler, cheaper and just as accurate as the other systems out on the market. Way easier to use on multiple bikes too. Not sure what the trackies opinion of speedplay pedals is though, they do a track model which is interesting but most people seem to use the old shimano pedals.

I think x = 600?
At the moment I use my Track bike and road bike the most, track bike is probably worth more than the road bike but the road bike cost me more. Way cheaper than my full sus MTB that hasn't been getting much use this year unfortunately
