Quick question - this may have been me forgetting to grab the newest GPS route, but what was with the offroad segments? I managed to get so much mud in my fenders on one of them that the wheels wouldn't turn, had to stop and scrape it all out with a stick. Generally had a great time, but those two segments were a bit awkward. You had an old GPS. We emailed the latest one out. Where did you get it from?
The first sector stayed. That had potholes. The second was more like a First World War trench. I recced it (and got the 4th fastest time on the Strava segment), but it had to go for sanity sake. Kudos for doing it.

Thanks for all the comments. Not quite the biggest BR event, but we printed more brevet cards than any audax outside of L-E-L. There was a lovely party atmosphere all day, so thank you to everyone who helped create such a great buzz.

We'll be back next year with the third Great Escape and are looking at staging a 100km event (The Escape - geddit?), which will start from a north London park. Maybe June...

Good stuff +amey
We've sold about 100 of the 400 places already - the ride will most likely sell out, do grab a place while you can.

This is a 200km ride that starts and finishes at Look Mum No Hands! (Old Street, London EC1) and takes in lots of lovely lanes and villages in Essex, including the Knead Cafe at The Blue Egg in Bardfield.
Sunday 17 May 2015
It costs just £7-£10 to enter, which you can do here: http://www.aukweb.net/events/detail/15-251 and also see the route sheet.
All 225 places were sold last year, so this time there will be a field of 400.

Nice one +amey
It's a decent ride - looking forward to some decent winter miles
Here's mine (not added mudguards yet):

Now I own two Canyons. Got a Roadlite 6.0 which will serve as my winter trainer. Kind of a bonkers time of the year to acquire one. I will add some Race Bkade Longs in the autumn. It is nowhere near as sumptuous or speedy a ride as my Ultimate CF 8.0, but it is pretty nippy nonetheless. And the aim was to have a winter bike that has components that were not too costly to maintain.

There is much more happening than we could list on the flyer, but it gives you an idea. From Rollapaluza, live music and food stalls to face painting, bouncy castle and cycle clothing.
