@hippy No restrictions on machines at all in UK Audaxes.
Some events require mudguards, but that's because the cafe controls being used have previously complained about riders (on the event) with wet/muddy arses messing up their chairs.
I took my aerobars off in 2011 as I wanted to get used to riding without them as I wouldn't have be able to have them on PBP.

If you want to do it then join AUK online now (£19) and then enter. If you've joined you won't be a temporary member so you won't get bumped.
Not sure if you get your real membership number straight away when joining online, but it's something that can be cleared up after the fact. If you don't get it straight away then I'd still enter (without the £2 temp member levy) and put "have joined AUK - awaiting membership nos - will advise later" on the form.
They'll be plenty of GPX files closer to the time (sometimes the route needs a tweak or two). Google will give you a few from older editions.

Thing is I did a PB on my 20min climb yesterday. But I was riding the fixed gear without power. Cant believe I may hae cracked 300 whithout knowing :(
Look out for a cheap PowerTap Track hub. Some people here got them for <£300.
I'm doing some 5 x 5 at the moment (moving up 10W this week), not looking forward to doing 2 x 20 when I add a Thursday lunchtime session.

They were never designed to be quiet, so you'll want to think about where the hell you put something like this. You don't want it in the same room as where you might watch a movie or try to sleep. The fans on these things spin at 20k rpm, the usual home computer fans spin at 1-7k rpm... think of a high-pitch and loud jet engine... these are NOISY.
Not just another room, but either a basement, garage or other outbuilding. I have a couple of rack servers (old RLX 300i blade servers) in a side-return/ultility room at a mate's house (I live in a flat) and his wife can still hear them through one floor and two supporting walls.

@amey 11am to 1pm (I don't work Friday so I have the day to myself whilst daughter is at school). Grey Condor Tempo, and wearing white/green/red Audax Cymru jersey, anti-clockwise.
@Chadders81 I wish. 67' for 3 laps, aiming for sub 60' once I get fitness back.
-
4 more laps, no improvement as it was a bit blustery with a headwind from Roehampton to Richmond.
Will give gears an outing next Friday as my spin-fu is seriously lacking (maxing out at ~150rpm currently) and so it's much harder work on the descents than it needs to be. Hoping for ~67 minutes if all goes well.

I have improved!
My W/kg for FTP (based on 95% of 20 min peak) has gone up from 1.74 to 1.91 and so I have gone from below even "untrained" to "untrained"!
W/kg for 5 min effort is at the untrained level too, with 5s and 1m still below untrained.
Saving grace is that I'm fat (which really hurts W/kg) and these are just peak measurements from 50km rides of Richmond Park (on fixed) and not a specific targeting testing protocol.
But improvements like this is useful to keep me motivated.
I'll take the geared bike out next week which should help me improve on them too.

Hungover
2 cups of coffee (black decaf, no sugar)
3 weetabix for breakfast
50km round Richmond Park
1pt of Saino's chocolate milk (for energy + protein)
1 x 750ml bidon of orange squash
2 x 750ml bidon of water + nuun electrolyte tablets
30 minute swimI am a little hungry right now (and probably still dehydrated).

Fuck - were all of the other bridges closed too?
Walking the bike over was a small price to pay for the very quiet roads either side; my commute (SW15 to SE1) has been lovely whilst the bridge has been shut.
It'll be back to full on shitdom once everyone falls back into their usual commuting routine.

(my first mp3 player was a 48MB one that connected via the parallel port in about 2001)
I still have my Diamond Rio PMP300 somewhere (bought in September '98 when I lived in the US). 32MB with another 32MB memory card.
I ripped loads of stuff as 64kbps mono so I could get a couple of hours of music onto it for cycling.

It's lovely. Was fat and unfit so I took gears though. What was it, 2010? ...
Ah yes: https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/127153/?offset=475#7380607

Well yes but get you scary thoughts in early. The Bryan Chapman scenic route on the other hand is as good as anything!
Wales is surprisingly fixed friendly although the scenic route does pick out the steeper versions of various climbs. (Never done the scenic, only the 'normal' BCM route).
@hippy Elenith 300, Brevet Cymru 400 or Snowdon & Coast 400, Bryan Chapman 600
Although the Severn Across 400 is probably better for you (Chalfont St Peter start, plus it's Willesden.)

Reminds me of the Hummercian on PBP: http://www.legslarry.beerdrinkers.co.uk/tfr/images/IMG_0846.jpg
(A google image search of hummercian will provide an NSFW image of its owner)

It's going to sell out (it always does in PBP year and the bed space is limited at Kings YH), not having Paypal entry will probably mean fewer DNS as paper entry (with a chequebook) will weed out some people who are click happy.
