I believe the forumenger named Kurt is a paramedic, could be your man.
To be specific, I'm an EMT. Hopefully be a Paramedic by Xmas. Same sort of thing, just thought I'd be clear as some on here are aware of the difference.
Anyway, wasn't me I'm afraid. Bit out of my area, I'm based at Woolwich.
@OP hope you're ok and heal up quick.

I'm really into one of these at the mo, but the paint is so fugly and the lack of steel inserts in the dropouts puts me off a bit. Still for the money it appears to be a great deal and I may yet overcome my doubts and order one. Up 'til the other day I was saving for a Dolan Track Champion frameset,or a Cannondale Capo to strip and rebuild with my own parts. Seems that I might be able to get something just as good for 1/3 to 1/2 the money.
As previously posted, anyone care to comment on sizing?

So you were negotiating a difficult junction and a cyclist made a potentially dangerous manoeuvre that you didn't expect because frankly it was a bit foolhardy to say the least and you still were able to keep your vehicle under control and bring it to a stop without causing injury or harm to the cyclist or damage to other vehicles. And the cyclist was apologetic because really she knew she'd made a mistake. Nice one, if only all carengers were able to do this we'd all be alot better off. Don't know why you feel bad. Bet the cyclist won't do that again which is a valueable lesson she's learned. Next time she may not have been so lucky.

Motor vehicles have to have a speedometer that displays the speed to within 10% accuracy by law. That's why speed cameras are always set a bit higher than the posted limit. Although accuracy isn't tested at MOT it's part of the Construction and Use regs. There's no legal requirement for a speedo to be fitted to a cycle and therefore no indication to the rider of their speed. Hence speed limits cannot be enforced on cyclists. However you can be nicked for riding like a cunt in such a way as to endanger other road users or walkengers.

Anyone know if there's an annual summer shutdown at Bob Jackson Cycles? Over the past 3 weeks I've emailed 4 times and called loads but I get no response. I've been told that they can sometimes be hard to get hold of, but I really want to confirm a few details with them and then give them a fist full of cash for a Vigorelli.
Peace.

I don't know you mate but I hope you make a speedy recovery. The standard of driving in SE London is generally shit, and seems to get worse day by day. I work on a 999 ambulance out of Woolwich and see it every day. Make sure you chase the old bill up and see if they have cctv footage of the incident. Keep taking the painkillers and take it easy.

I'm on my second Pompino. I sold the first one and regretted it almost straight away. They're strong but not overly heavy, quick and fun to ride but not too twitchy for road use, comfy, rack and guard compatible and £99 frame only when I last checked. My first one had been used fixed wheel on the road commuting and training, single speed cross stylee for touring and misbehaving on the singletrack at Bedgebury and i even completed the Cat and Fiddle Challenge on it a couple of years ago (not recommended though-gears needed). My current one is fixed only 48:18 and rides like a dream-I don't think On One have changed the specs over the years only the colours. Oh yeah, they come 120mm track spaced or 135mm so you can run SS MTB hubs.

Francoise is a cunt
http://www.fixedgeargallery.com/2009/may/2/FP.htmCheck the look on the dogs face in the last photo. Even he thinks Francoise is a cunt and this is an animal that licks it's own ringpiece!
PS I'm not doggist!

I've got a 23 Ultra Gatorskin front (it's done about 1500 miles) and a 28 Top Contact rear (only done about 220 miles). Seems ok, so far puncture free, can't comment on skidability 'cos I can't skid for shit (although I keep trying). The Gators do cut up though, as others have said. I think I'm still looking for my winning tyre combo. Gonna try a Maxxis Refuse front and a Rubino Pro rear, both 23c next.

To avoid Shooters Hill, I would go down Nightingale Place into Plumstead Common Road, right into Kirkham Street, right again into Swingate Lane and then Glenmore Road up to Welling. Easy peasy :)
Nightingale Place is the only 'real' hill on that route but is fairly short by comparrison to Shooters Hill.OK thanks, I'll try that tomorrow.

only seen Shooters Hill the once... one look and turned back lol
Yeah I know what you mean! I'm only riding 48-18 but it's still tough at the top. Coming down t'other side's fun trying to stop your knees hitting your chin! That's why I've got 2 brakes. Keep trying not to use the rear in the misguided belief that I'll eventually get a nice BJ track frameset and run it with 1 brake, but the cruel reality of it is that i'm destined to remain a commutenger on my bi-braked Pompino lol
