Factor in some hassle and suffering ££ for the bruises. Personally I reckon you'll do better going via the insurance company. No experience (yet) to base that on just intuition, but you'll get £ for a proper repair job on the thorn, damage to clothes, bruises £ etc. Do report the accident to the police anyway. A new Thorn frame plus clothes plus bruises got to be getting on for a grand or more. No way is that not going to be an insurance job.

Was going to fit dirt harrys to the fixed, but the change of frame has brought with it a minor change of colour scheme. Lots of caliper levers out there like the harrys with silver lever on black bracket, I may just decide to strip and polish, but can anyone point to nice silver levers? Lust after Paul Loves, but £££ ouch.

makes my frame look small...Damn! Takes a lot for me either diss a Mercian or a large frame, but that was at the front of the queue when they handed out the ugly sticks.

Well, Hovis has just been over and looked at the frame, he (like everyone else) was of the opinion that it was too nice to paint so I'll try giving it a frou frou going over and then I'll build it up and see. After all if I did decide to powdercoat I could strip it, get it coated and built up all in a few days. Onward and upward said the one armed seagull.

22 3/4" Mercian frame, paints in bad nick but a £100 BIN.

asm Is this going to be a fixie or a geared bike ben? (Also how's the arm/collarbone/whatever facilitated the need for a sling? This is alex by the way, was on foundation last year, friends with Aidan)
Its going to be fixed, and yes, don't worry I know asm=alex. I'm meeting with Hovis and gary tomorrow for a debate on the paint/not paint.
Sling thing is making progress but won't be riding for at least another 8 weeks according to the doc.

Nice old condor for the tallish (6'1"?) with some good bits, vertical drops though so would need new drops welded in for SS/FG. PS: Needs a repaint anyway.

Just a thought from another clydesdale, all these weight ratings have a hefty (ahem) margin of error. I'm 107kg and constantly use ladders rated max 90kg. You pays your money and takes your choice. Maybe talk to Greg at London Fields Cycles, he's been a big help regarding wheel strength on my beater/tool carrying bike which often carries me plus and 20kg tools.
