and regarding whitworth park i struck a deal with oli lougheed about that court. he has now changed jobs but i do know the person that has filled his role.
i am gonna speak to her about resurfacing and the spotlights. also about painting the bricks with bike polo mural (oli said this would be ok but then it we moved to platt fields again for a bit and didn't bother doing it until bastard students came back and started playing basketball)

oh and we need to register for this innit...have emailed mat to find out when we can register so please think about whether you can make the date and about teams so i can send us all as one email so it;s easier for him to deal with
Dear poloistas,
We have a date! The EHBPCs will take place on August 1st & 2nd 2009, in
London. We look forward to some awesome tournament play from the best polo
teams in Europe and a riotous weekend for all.The current plan is that there will be 40 spots open for the tournament,
on a first-come, first-serve basis. London will be capped to 4 teams.
Entry will likely open on the weekend of the ECMC tournament (May 28th –
June 1st 2009). There will be a tournament fee required to secure a spot.
After lengthy discussion, we have decided to make this tournament only
open to European-based teams (we are relaxed about how that is defined). The date is confirmed, but there will possibly be some minor changes to
the format (our working plan is 40 spots; first-come, first-serve; 4-team
cap for London, but these details may get changed over the next month). We want to make this an outstanding event and a massive party. There will
be lots to do over the weekend even if you are not playing in the
tournament. Friends of bike polo are encouraged to come for the weekend to
see some great polo and more.We will have more details to come soon, but for now, save the date.
Please sign up at www.ehbpc.org if you would like to continue to receive
email updates regarding the tournament and pre-events.Cheers,
The EHBPC London Committee

yeah yeah ok that could work.
or on the same weeks, they don't tend to ride very far and a little second burst might be nice...or not!
and i think i'm gonna do the cheshire cat but not sure. i don't really like having to pay. maybe we could just do the route another time??!!

On 7th June there is the Polkadot Challenge.
"The Polkadot - "Spud" Riley Memorial Gran Fondo is a 100 mile bike ride, organised by MANCHESTER VELO C.R.C. on the lines of the classic Italian Gran Fondo events. It starts in Woodford Village 10 miles South of Manchester and covers 100 miles through Cheshire, Derbyshire and Staffordshire, with 16 official climbs varying in length from 1/2 mile to 5mls with gradients up to 20%. There is a 54 mile option for those requiring an easier ride. The whole route and all the climbs are fully signposted and at the start of each climb is a sign showing its number, name and distance to the summit. Food and drinks are provided at two feeding/control points on the route."

I wanted to post some rides and races that I want to go on..would be good if people want to join me...and if people could share ones that they know of..
Am thinking about starting going to the Wheelers short rides too if anyone else is up for trying to keep up with them til we develop muscles of steel.
also i want to start riding about 60 miles every other sunday (from like 10am), nice and quick(ish)...hopefully getting quicker each time...maybe sorting out a route and doing it as a timetrial and meeting others that are up for it at a pub at the end??? would anyone like to do it too?

I guess the nearest nocturne to us this year is the Blackpool..we can have a lovely ride there and then go on rollercoasters then watch the rides from 6pm...
"The Blackpool Nocturne will take place on Saturday 1st August 2009 around a spectacular circuit that starts and finishes adjacent Blackpool Tower on the promenade"
might even enter the folding bike race this year (but then i'd have to ride the fucker all the way to blackpool so mebbe not)
