I just did a taster session at Lee Valley. Was brilliant fun. Alex Dowsett was training beforehand. Quite mesmerising to watch. Would get tickets if it didn't involve going to Manchester.
Someone was saying that because there was a derny race before Sarsh Story's attempt, they opened all the vents and the temperature was too low. No idea how much difference it made, but guess if would be marginal

From an Andy Waterman interview with Harry Rowland... “The first proper wheelbuilding job I got was with the Canadian Olympic team in 1976. I was working at Whitcomb in Deptford, old Ernie Whitcomb was like a cross between Arthur Dailey and Fagin. I was an apprentice frame builder, so I had all the donkey work, filing lugs which was horrible. A lot of frame builders don’t like building wheels, they find it boring and it does take a long time, so I ended building a lot of them. At times it was ten pairs a day; the ones who got more time taken were when your mates came in or you had to make them for a pro where I was allowed to spend a lot of time on them. I decided that was the route for me.
“Barry Whitcomb was the main race mechanic for the Canadians, but he used to break spokes when he was building wheels, and he’d go off effing and blinding – we never got to the bottom of that. ‘How come you never break spokes?’ he’d say – well, I don’t know. So when the Olympics came along, he got me to build the wheels".

My 800 has stopped communicating with the computer. It charges but doesn't show in the finder. Have tried different leads and computer so definitely the device. Have done a hard reset and a boot block, but no joy. Any other ideas before I pay Garmin £75 for a replacement?
