I emailed HED UK (in Sheffield) a few weeks back to ask if a Rear HED 3 with shimano cassette could be converted to 100mm front, and i simply got an email saying "NO" in massive type! Nice.

I believe though, that rear track specific HED 3s can have a shorted axle put in (100mm) so it can be run on the front, but you'll still have the sprocket threading on the outer shell of the hub...

46:17 here, spinning is a lot easier than grinding, i'm finding 165 cranks much better for spinning than the 172.5s that were on my bike before...
