Set in early-2025, the thread follows Maj in a near-future UK experiencing societal collapse due to critical resource shortages, ecocide and a Conservative government. Armed biker gangs freely hijack riders with boutique components, leading to the return of the "beater bike". The trends for pre- and artifically- aged clothing bleed into the world of the bicycle, with newly built custom frames being pre-aged on the salt flats that used to be Walthamstow Marshes, and a rejection of the concept of "truing a wheel".

on the rack front, I've always thought the fahrer basket looked cool - although I've not seen one in the flesh

yeah me too, sometimes feels a little underbraked riding around London, esp. when carrying some luggage weight etc. have a modded fork from @M_V waiting to be fitted, looking forward to seeing how much difference mini-Vs or Vs will make...

hmmmm interesting....
can't not mention the Moulton XTB as we're here - good/bad news for me is that my inside leg is (slightly) longer than what they say is the maximum...

autobraze setup to attach the hinge
they used to hand-braze it though, how hard can it be?
very interested in progress - the AWOL folder was cool, but for me the reason for folding is to take on UK trains & that means 20" wheels max... have been eyeing the all-packa for a while...

which model are you getting, the A-line? think that only comes with mid bars - other models have more choice?
Anyway, depends what position you want on the bike - I'm 6'2" / pbh 92cm, I have a telescoping post & mid bars & flipped the pentaclip to give me a little more reach - my bars are roughly level with the seat & I find it comfy for what I use it for. If you want a more upright position (bars above the seat), maybe you want the high bars?

terrible description - says "no suspension", does not say "belt drive", etc...

the "bintage" version is the fc-mc34. originally a triple but with the inner mounted to a custom middle ring - now a 94bcd double, e.g. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/196176887594

Although this saddle bag rack does exactly what I want on a b17, it doesn't seem to sit right at all on the cambiums that I have on most of my bikes these days. Used once to test, put back in the box & then missed the returns deadline...
Paid about £30, anyone interested at £20 (or offers) collected from SE4 / Brockley? SOLD -
sorry to hear that, I think it would be a bit of a schlep on a brompton, but I think a multi-modal journey would be good - I always hate the dry stale hospital air & even a short blast on a bike does a lot to flush out the lungs & the mental health (for me). Something like getting the train the main section Orpington to Hither Green/St Johns & then brompton everything else is exactly the kind of thing bromptons excel at.
