hmmm, ottomh I'm gonna say - all the 90s p7s have 1" headsets, I /think/ by 2001 they have 1-1/8" headsets, but have you checked? next question - what travel do the existing suspension forks have? in rough numbers, on the 90s p7 setups (rigid-only) the forks were about 390mm long, then they went up to 410mm for 40mm suspension forks, eventually up to 440mm for 100mm suspension forks by 2005. So if your frame has 40mm suspension forks, a 1-1/8" headset & a headtube about 90mm long then these p2 forks would work. Although I sold them months ago...
Lots of stuff on retrobike about this era, e.g. https://www.retrobike.co.uk/threads/what-does-suspension-corrected-mean.375395/

What I don't get about the JK handlebars is - I have a 2016 M6L, and when folded the left-hand grip virtually touches the ground... a wider handlebar sounds great, but why doesn't it hit the ground? do you need a rack to lift up the main frame? or is just that the extra sweep is enough to get it out of the way? (it looks like <1cm from the ground rn, and the bar is apparently 7cm / 3.5cm per side wider?)

I think it's called snowflake https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/134985/

There's a thread on this that no one uses BTW
damn, sorry - when I asked about this I was looking at the minimods kit, and that thread didn't come up in a search for that https://www.lfgss.com/search/?q=minimod+sort:date

that looks cool, but I was thinking more friction shift than be continually grumbling with indexing - this person has made it work with XTR rapidfire, but it doesn't seem that well indexed (sounds like it would skip under load tbh...) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cipjOJzAXTM

haven't really thought about shifter yet - maybe https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/gear-shifters/sunrace-m90-friction-thumbshifter-left-hand/ - thumbies are good, I like thumbies

What do people think of the MiniMODs 2->3 sprocket kit?
The backstory:
I have a 6spd bromp which is generally great - the two middle gears 51"/63" are a nice combo for cruising around south London - but I want the 33" granny gear to be a bit lower to get up more hills further afield when carrying a little more weight. The Brompton suggested 44t chainring would give me a granny gear of 29", but my middle gears would be 45"/56" (and then 71"/87"), which is going to suck.
However, a 47t chainring and the 12/15/17t MiniMODS triple would give me a better granny at 29", whilst keeping the middle gears of 51"/64" - and it's a ton cheaper than the amazing rohloff or whatever options.
What's the catch, then? Other than - how do I figure out what chain length I need...?

I got a Brompton for mixed train/riding trips, but it's really fun so I use it a lot more than that. I do a once-a-week commute across London (20mi round-trip) with 10-15kg of gear - usually on a steel road bike with panniers, but I sometimes do it on the bromp with front bag/rucksack/saddlebag - it's definitely more tiring on the legs, but it's perfectly comfortable & isn't massively slower. Getting on a train at rush-hour (or long-distance without a bike reservation) still feels like an awesome super-power...

any details on what shape the forks are - axle-to-crown & rake?
