Picking up conversation from a few months back^
The beginning of the transition to C0/PFC-free water-resistant tech;
https://road.cc/content/tech-news/gore-tex-retires-shakedry-waterproof-fabric-more-tech-news-297593My understanding is that PFC’s will be phased out from their products entirely, membranes, coatings, reproofer.
-
A big one for me was confirmation that PFC/PFOA is definitely being phased out through policy, so multinational providers of waterproof fabrics are winding down their most effective w/p membrane(s). Reproofing/care of post-pfc is going to become more important - as is repair/resale of pfc-era garments.

Same here - I’m sure some of the soft, stretch running waist packs could be suitable? I have the smallest Chrome waist pack that I’ve added a wider strap to (one it came with was really spindly and unstable), and use for when I’m not wearing a jersey with pockets. Very mil-tec looking, sure there’s a better way….

Are you about tomorrow in London? Doing repairs & alterations at LMNH’s all day. Come down and I can fix it for you …failing that, yes, it will be something relatively easy for a repairs/alterations person to do. If it’s a few cm, a simple solution would be to fold the cuff up inside to required length, pin, and then stitch in place.
The elasticated cuff would sit higher up your wrist, but the ‘new’ hem would now sit at the right level

I work for Albion, but the back pocket is a real winner for winter use to stuff in gloves/jacket/food. These + forum disc (LFGSS10) worth stretching to?

As ever, wasn't expecting this amount of interest, thank you,
....however! I can see now with each person adding to the list, your hopes & chances diminish. So, I'll add a 2nd gift of a Burner Musette (in either Blue, Black or Orange) and a 3rd of a Elan Merino Hat (in any of the colours). Suppress interest in this thread to keep your chances at the currently, not unreasonable, 1-in-13
I'll set deadline of this Monday 18.00 gmt. I'll print the list, cut into strips and - thanks for whoever suggested up thread - place into the hat and make the draw. Will video and post results asap after 18.00.
To reduce the turbo-scrolling, am re-starting the list; will stitch all together for the draw, so don't panic, no-one is left behind. So kick off again from;

And sorry I missed this; @6pt the blue version is the same inky-ocean blue as the new Zoa jacket colour, and with same burnt orange lining as above.
-
ok, haha! This is not a list for Zoa hat orders, it would be impossible ....but, since I love this place, let's make it a draw.
I can offer up the prize of one (good quality) sample, drawn from this list, before the launch of the cap proper. One-size fits all, v broad range of fit with elasticated interior interior band. Will take some better photos in a sec,
C&P, add next number + forum name, repost list. I'll think of way an interesting way to draw the winner (more interesting than an excel random number). Deadline tba when I find out launch date, but will be next week at earliest. ...Good luck!

Hi all, sorry been busy and under the weather of late - think I'm out the other side now,
Zoa hats are now looking at a release after Black Friday/early Dec. Honestly, there's like 14 of them (50/50 black/blue) but I want to secure some for LFGSS in some way. Watch this space.
For Black Friday, Look Mum have kindly agreed to let us setup a repairs station for the day (the Friday 25th Nov). Similar as last years popup, offering free repairs for scrapes & tears on any brand cycle-clothing.
Often technical kit can be rendered useless by a relatively trivial problem like a snagged tear in a rainjacket, or scuffed up bibs. Idea is to keep all kit running for longer with some simple fixes, and demonstrate basic repairs/upgrades. It's worth considering clothing like you do a bike, and that you can repair/fix/upgrade if parts become worn out or damaged.
There's interesting developments happening in electronics & white goods with Right To Repair and Extended Producer Responsibility but will take a while before legislation cascades to apparel and accessories, but hopefully this is a good inspiration/provocation to start aligning with better design and EPR.

Bit tricky to follow, but did you want to cutup old leathers, or use new hides?
Light-ish weight new leather will be fine, although the sticky loading board might not remain effective for that long with the textured underside (boards are relatively cheap though). You can use specific heavyweight blades for thicker materials, or theres a rotary cutter wheel for textiles; the pathway is redefined for the rotary blade, think 'ice-skate lines' which might limit some designs.If you use Adobe or similar, I found the Silhouette interface relatively straight-forward, and once you have the hang, it's a doddle. You can buy a plugin, Silhouette Connect, for something like $50 (3 licenses) to connect adobe directly and save some of the faff of saving as dxf and resizing in Silhouette Studio.
I've found a large part of the learning, has been working out 1) blade depth 2) pressure 3) time. The interface gives pre-loaded settings for materials, but you need to trial and tweak to find best settings.
I guess you're doing designs/lettering to then apply to a base? A handy technique might be to apply bondaweb/hot-melt film to the underside of the leather before cutting, then press on with an iron/heatpress before stitching on.
....good luck + let us know how you get on!

Cheers for this @youramericanlover Up for Saturday, but haven’t ridden since the last one so am feeling pretty flat and potential to bail :/ Recurring infection in the minor op wound I mentioned up thread. On third round of antibiotics atm which is making me feel bleary (more than usual) …think it might have been all the leaping around for Bespoked show that did me. Gutted, was carrying some good fitness from summer riding and running, now all gone to pot!

Sorry for v brief post, but visited Performance Days last week. Felt like finally conversations were being had beyond simply ‘recycled’ or ‘organic’ - sometimes difficult topics to talk about openly
The site is a great resource, here’s the orientation piece on the show theme;

With lots of interesting speakers/panels going online next week.

...sorry for silence, I was at a trade show end of last week (not Rouleur Live!) but v quick responses - and thank for feedback all.
@user1411692 not directly MTB, but recognise the value of cross-over, more versatile products. I think the advancement in fibre & material tech makes this easier to attain,
@King_Saxlingham thinking was to make them possible to wear over widest range of garments underneath; from regular bibs, though to insulated shorts/trousers, tucked in upper layers, and full-on overshoe/gaiters over winter boots, hence trying to get the widest range of adjustment in the ('fishermans'?) waist and elasticated ankle. Perhaps we need to make this clearer, and consider what a rider will be mainly wearing/doing in them? ie commute (over jeans with a belt) vs riding (skintight bibshorts) is probably a size up.Zip length is to allow an overshoe-clad boot with cleats unimpeded access.
...It's v frustrating for me too at 6'4", having to commit to limited leg-lengths in a seam-sealed garment with zippered ankles!
@user141692 my thinking here is connecting up with a long pair of overshoes, so it looks 'right' and not a gap to the shoe/boot top ....as above, I wish I had a magic wand for this :/

And yes, as @Brain-Stew suggests, if you can find black lycra (‘warp knit’ so ideally can be left raw-edge and not ladder), to apply a big panel on inside and stabilise
Use Bondaweb hot-melt film to hold in place, before zig-zag stitching to allow stretch/movement of the stitch. Good luck!
