The survey asks "should fixed wheel bikes be allowed on the road?" then goes on to define fixed wheel bikes as brakeless. Which are not (legally) allowed on the road. The whole survey has been poorly thought out, poorly researched and is basically a huge waste of time.

It's like saying "Should shooting people be illegal?"

(BTW I'm not comparing brakeless to shooting people, just making a point)

Got a scare on Kingsland road today, just North of Dalson Junc. There's a groove in the road that's so deep it almost had me off (I tried to swerve, tyres didn't want to follow - dodgy moment)

what tends to happen with OTP fixed wheel is it's a great way of getting started, then slowly, inexorably, you find yourself gazing full of lust at the bespoke creation next to you at the lights, and then looking back in disgust at your lesser, uglier machine. this lasts until you purchase a new frame or order a new build of sufficient provenance and beauty to negate the perils of bike envy.

Glad they won, anything to encourage people out of their cars. I'm not an eco-nut, but I've been to Houston and it's horrible. You literally can't walk/cycle anywhere except the centre of downtown.

I use an EAI on my Flyer and chainline is fine.

Looking for something that I can do without making a mess inside my flat, preferably outside in the street. That's why I quite liked the idea of a self contained thing. Just wondering if they work.

Howies merino T-shirts are brilliant! Wash just like normal cotton, don't smell and wick moisture. Never tried their jackets though.

There's a list of shops on the cyclescheme website. (Includes Condor, Cavendish, Brixton Cycles and BLB, among others). The only rules are that the purchase has to be a complete bike, so you can't buy just the frame. Of course you could buy a BJ frame with cheap components and flog them on eBay.

If you go for cyclescheme instead of the Evans version there are a few independent shops that participate. It isn't just Cycle surgery.

My riding style has been slowly changing, started out on the hoods and have slowly drifted downwards. Now I mainly use the horizontal part at the bottom of the drops and only move my hands up when in traffic or near lemming pedestrians.

I'm considering ditching the hoods for one bmx lever as I only really use them when I might need to brake in a hurry.

I'm still pretty sure it's this. NJS certified HKK chain.
