I emailed Archie Wilkinson in Sep about the £99 frame
RE: Basic frame and fork specs
Hello Steve,
Frame is Cro-Mo steel with 110mm rear track end and 100mm front.
Straight bladed forks and 11 1/8” bottom bracket height with 26 x 1 3/8 wheels.
Standard single speed bottom bracket with approx. 110mm axle.
Frame size is 21” and frame and fork are both drilled for brakes. £99 frame and fork is only available in black colour at the moment.

Even regular Google searches with a product name and a target price can come up trumps.
I googled to find a black Specialized Decibel helmet for less that £70 and found Hargroves Cycles had them for £59.99.
Gave them a call and they said "actually we'll do it for £54.99". Then I get a call back 10 mins later saying sorry we messed up the last medium was sold, but would you like a 2D for £65 instead?" -

^ I was super skeptical too but this (sprockets?) was confirmed to me in store yesterday. After a brief argument between staff members. Whilst someone dropped a grand of cyclescheme voucher on something that clearly wasn't worth it.

I tried sniffing around a more family orientated LBS near me and quickly came to the conclusion that the Raleigh CE's rant about most shop owners wasn't far off the mark.
Me "Got any old track or single speed stuff? Cogs hubs chainrings etc?"
Them "No"
Me "Sure?"
Them "Absolutely"After 60 seconds of browsing
Me "What about this Miche track hub?"
Them "Oh yeah, well thats all we have "
Me " And those TA chainrings?"etc.
I might try and haggle with them at some point

I've twatted about on internet forums catering to niche interests that eventually go overground since the days of 28k modems and every single one of them eventually generates a student requesting help with homework.
Its virtually a rite of passage.
The other one is a hobby suddenly becoming referred to as "culture" usually by people with an interest in exploiting it for a commercial gain from something not directly connected to the hobby.
A fixed gear themed art exhibition will be the sign the charlatans have moved in and decided you all need some culture to go with your pastime.
