Thanks for your advice Clefty. Took my bike and had a wonderful w/end
Things I'd recommend:
-trip/pilgrimage to the Roubaix Velodrome. I've watched A Sunday in Hell one to many times so this was going to be a compulsory. Girlfriend asked the caretaker nicely so we got access to the showers which are seen in many of the epic photos seen of the race

-visit to the Piscine in Roubaix - old art deco pool now turned into a gallery. Nice collection of art but amazing setting

-Lille Métropole Musée d'art moderne: reopened over the weekend, lovely collection in a nice setting. Will be well worth a visit when the crowds subside a bit.

-check in with the local cycling crew. There's apparently a developing scene and it's well worth checking in. I bumped into one local and had a great time

Looks like I'll be heading to Lille at the end of the month for a long w/end. Likely to have a day of solid riding and interested in what there is worth visiting or areas particularly worth rising. Roubaix is nearby but reckon it won't be so grand without the race on. Any suggestions gratefully received. Also interested in hearing any suggestions re Lille generally . Thanks
