...a 10k which i did in 40:41 for my first effort at running i was pretty chuffed... but i think my body is not made for stamina.
fck me that's fast. once did a 40min 10k run but the distance was a bit suspect (prob 0.5-1.0km short)...anyway, sounds like you're pretty fit.
stamina will come later. just keep on riding. increase your distance on weekends, you'll be alright. loads of forum folks that go on these long dist rides are nowhere near your fitness level. dont worry bout jumping in the deep end.
proper nutrition is important. i go through 1 energy bar every 1.5hrs. and about one bottle every 2hrs (<1hr if it's hot and sunny). if you feel hungry or thirsty, it is often too late.

...Surely its unfair for sports such as Basketball to include professionals? As the USA is probably the only place you can make a good living from it.
not really. they've been beaten so many times...by europeans and by argentina in the last world cup. dont think theyve won any championship since the 2000 olympics. the most expensive NBA player, lebron james is reportedly considering playing in italy. euroleague is just as profitable i guess

I reckon the Aussies are probably gonna win more medals than the Brits.
But then they have 433 athletes competing and we only have 312.
.. and you have a population of 60million versus our 20million. You suck. :P
and if the no of athlete were equal, there will be 121 eddie (the) eagles...hehehe
but seriously, would like to see hoy and pendleton get some medals. they've been built up so much tho, so much expectation. would hate to see another painful shane kelly episode

out them. was funny for a little while but i now see it as a waste of time.
the problem is, it turns to a 'boy who cried wolf' situation. we get newbies coming in for some technical knowhow. but because others fcked around with aliases, people dont bother giving serious/helpful advise anymore or worse flame the newbie.

but evans did start the attack. schleck attacked a bit later. geez, you hate evans (or aussies!?!) so much...let it go, it's not healthy
that chase by cancelara was amazing. i think he shouldve gone straight past the chase group and gone for the leaders. if it werent for the tricky turn through the toll gates, he wouldve gone all the way. too bad schleck didnt get a medal, thought he deserved it
good race this morning. great for cooke to win the race. shty conditions surprised there were very few stacks. see that chinese in the ditch?!

sore throat today. prob from all the cheering. finished quite late, i think that was about 130? bj, badtmy's mate won the individual mens...a runaway winner. dutch track champ won the ladies indiv. cs grupetto won the mens team event. exciting racing there. illy stuck to it and simon pegged the other team back with a storming finish.
tourdeville won the ladies team. stelle and agata did an excellent job keeping it close
