some cunt walked into our backyard (SW18) overnight and walked away with my kona dew hybrid. cheap as chips but it's a bike that gets the most use. i use it to get to work and for taking my son to nursery. i use it pretty much everyday. it will now cost me a lot more £££ and time to get to work and nursery, both of which i have very little of. thanks cunt.
pic attached. small-medium sized blue frame. ive converted it into a singlespeed. tensioner is like the powerplay ones. triple chainset with the chain in the middle ring. flat pedals (no cage). v-brakes with integrated brake/gear levers. slightly un-trued front wheel. newish 35c tyres. grip is slightly ripped at the ends. the childseat was left behind but the mount should still be on the seat tube.

Rode the missing bits from last week this morning. Hang Grove Hill, that nasty surprise little hill between Cudham and Downe, has been resurfaced with the smoothest tarmac I've ever ridden on, the kind of tarmac that would make jonny sing with joy. The fast downhill approach to it is still pothole ridden though.
that climb felt heavy. dont know if the surface was still a bit soft but i thought i had a puncture at that point. should be perfect in couple of weeks time. if weather's good, it'll be a fast run around with all the smooth roads

my cousin is over from oz and he's after an IWC Portuguese. where's best shop to get one? is it possible to haggle in shops like watches of Switzerland?
Nice choice.
Haggling for watches is expected.
Try Wempe on Bond Street as well as WoS if going for a new IWC.
he got his portuguese £400 off the retail price and got a bigger percentage VAT refund compared to other shops. RESULT!

Please keep your eyes open for this bike.
Frame is 4 weeks old, other parts older.
Stolen outside of a shop I was working on in Shorts Gardens Covent Garden.
I chased the thief but couldn't catch him.
Bike now keeps appearing on Gumtree. Take a look - it's making me weep.If anyone sees this bike around - it's quite distinctive because of the colour - I would really appreciate it if you could report it to the police. I've let them know and have a crime ref.
no. etc.Thanks,
A Very Sad Cyclist
did this happen tuesday(?) last week? and was it locked to a pole near Scoop?
my mates mentioned that they saw someone ride off on a nice condor then very shortly afterwards, someone (you?) chased after it. didnt occur to them that the bike was getting nicked (they're tourists). saw an unlocked hybrid where your bike was...prob the thief's previous bike? unfortunately i was getting my gelati inside Scoop when it all happened. such a busy public place, you'd think it's safe enough there. that really sux

the provisional results were emailed hold on I'll put them in a Google doc..
did they assume everyone started at 0900? tika and i have the same time despite her (in the rolla group?) starting no less than 5mins before my group. looks like i did ok then and wouldve gone under 4hrs if (a) we didnt drop a set of car keys (b) spotted/followed the right signs (c) i didnt have an a.schleck moment (d) not hung around the feedstation too long (couldve skipped that 3rd slick of cake!). meh

..Desi, thanks for the tow to the halfway point, and thanks AndyP for flagging this ride up in the first place. Sorry I couldn't hang around afterwards, the missus had the arse ache.
no worries, sam, you did your fair share early on. dont mind doing the pulling from time to time. it just sometimes annoys me when in a group of 9-12, only one or two people are willing to help out.

Oh fuck yeah, me and Tika saw the aftermath of a crash where someone ate it turning right across traffic for one of the turns. Through the windscreen wrecking the car but he was sat outside a pub looking just a bit scuffed. Crazy...
is that what happened to that guy? the ambulance just got there when we went by. the bike's gone. some of the tubes on his frame (looked like a Ti) were squashed. he was sitting up and holding his arm or shoulder, lucky to survive if he did run onto on-coming traffic

...but I have learnt and seen, that some people steal out of necessity.....for things like food, or clothes for their children.
You didn't lock your wheel, and someone took it. "Burn in hell?"....because you couldn't be bothered to carry the equipment needed to secure your bike? ...
im really tempted to steal some sht now. sounds like it's ok as im unemployed. need some cash to pay bills and feed a hungry child. and i know a few hang outs where fixies arent even locked-up. no tools needed
I would think most, in the developed West, steal, but not for need.
sorry, was the rear wheel stolen in an indian slum??
...You do realise you're almost edging on the "if you wear short skirt, except to be raped" metaphor?
cant believe im saying this....but this^ by ed is just about right

yeah, I've broken it before, and the lump was there. not bothered about that as the bone itself was a continuous line of, more or less, the same depth away from the skin towards my shoulder. However, if I follow the path of the bone from my neck out wards it reaches the break and just drops back about 2 cm.
Maybe I'll call, just hate wasting doctor's time.
my break never realigned itself. a bit like yours, mark, though drop is less than 2cm. went for an xray a total of three times within the 12wks and each time, the position stayed the same from the time it snapped. there's 'daylight' between the two parts. surgeon said that it's something that got caught in between, fat/muscle/whatever.
didnt want to go for a surgery cos i just wanted it to heal up. i was able to put some weight on it after 6-8wks but it was uncomfortable for a long time after that...say another 2-3+mths. i couldnt sleep on that side and from time to time i was getting some numbness/pins&needles

thanks for the offer but 60cm is prob a bit big for me. anyway, i think some very generous mates are lining up a temp replacement. cheers
